141 pages. Biography of the hero of the 1972 hockey summit series between Canada and the Soviet Union. "Tells Henderson's story from his childhood in southern Ontario when his father, Garnet, had trained him and encouraged him to make the NHL. On his way up, Paul Henderson suffered from the inequities of the feudal farm-team system, and saw his best friend in junior hockey black-balled because he wanted an education. He was one of the first to fight the system and improve players' conditions. Few players in the game have given as much as Paul Henderson. This book tells how and why he did it." - from dust jacket. Black and white photographic plates. Book clean and unmarked with light to moderate wear. Above-average wear to dust jacket now preserved in archival-grade Brodart cover. Nice solid copy overall. 192 pages. Bibliography and index. Profusely illustrated with black and white and color photos. "Offers a chilling look at how one man - Joseph Stalin - manipulated the science of photography to advance his own political career and to erase the memory of his victims. On Stalin's orders, purged rivals were air-brushed from group portraits, and crowd scenes were altered to depict even greater legions of the faithful. The juxtaposition of the original and the doctored images yields a terrifying - and often tragically funny - insight into one of the darkest chapters in modern history." - dust jacket.
