First editions of these two works reproducing and detailing the famed 1888 Cyclorama panorama by the noted architect Buhlmann and artist Alexander von Wagner designed and intended to feed public appetite for visual spectacle in the 19th Century prior to the emergence of film and cinema. With exquisite attention to detail this massive piece emulated the performance Cycloramas touring the Americas and Europe such as the “Battle of Gettysburg†“Missionary Ridge†and offered the viewers an immersive experience. This triumph capped the victorious 312 A.D. campaign by Emperor Constantine in which he had defeated the competing Emperor Maxentius at the Battle of the Milvian Bridge where Constantine had his vision of the Cross and converted to Christianity and adopted the banner standard bearing the initial letters in the name of Christ. Of additional interest is that even though the original was eventually destroyed von Wagner’s & Buhlmann’s work inspired Yadegar Asisi to create his massive 27 meter by 107 meter 2014 panorama opened in Dresden at the Dresden Panorama Museum where Rome’s cityscape can be viewed from a tower below a dome. Seine neue Serie entstand während der letzten 20 Jahre und zeigt Landschaften in Bewegung. Bäume und Gräser biegen sich im Wind steile Klippen und vom Wasser geformte Felsen und Steine liegen umhüllt von Gischt und Nebel in der Meeresbrandung die Horizontlinien verschwimmen im Weißgrau des Himmels. Der koreanische wie auch der in China und Japan gebräuchliche Begriff für Landschaft setzt sich aus den Wörtern »Wind« und »Szenerie« zusammen. Er ist eng verbunden mit den traditionellen kosmologischen Vorstellungen von einer alle lebenden Dinge durchziehenden Quintessenz dem Äther. Die poetische Wortschöpfung »Windscape« ist eine wörtliche Übersetzung jenes Begriffs der in ganz Ostasien mit denselben Bedeutungsebenen assoziiert wird. Dieses alte Uebel ist kein körperliches obwohl ich mit körperlichen Uebeln reichlich versehen bin sondern es ist ein geistiges und da es den Psychiater selbst betrifft wahrscheinlich durch einen Psychiater nicht zu heilen. Es ist das die Epistolopathia paradoxa die mir schon viel Verdruss bereitet hat. Sie stellt sich besonders gerne dann ein wenn ich durch eine Arbeit sehr intensiv in Anspruch genommen bin. Momentan ist es der Johann Peter Frank von dem ich bis vor Kurzem äusserst wenig wusste und über den ich im Mai eine grosse Rede halten soll. Ich muss Ihnen aber beichten dass der Johann Peter Frank etwa zu einer Ausrede brauchbar ist; zu einer Begründung nicht. Denn in Wirklichkeit ist schon noch so viel Zeit vorhanden um einer Freundin ein paar freundliche Zeilen schreiben zu können. Zum Schluss geschieht es ja doch. Aber das alte Uebel! . in Gumpoldskirchen habe ich Sie allerdings bei meinen letzten Ausflügen Melker Keller vermisst.
