Due volumi legati in uno di cm. 28, pp. 76; 90 (2). Con frontespizio figurato a ciascuna delle due parti e 71 tavole finemente incise in rame (ciascuna protetta da velina). Solida ed elegante legatura coeva in mezza pelle con punte, dorso a piccoli nervi con titoli e ricchi fregi in oro. Fioriture limitate a 3/4 tavole, peraltro esemplare genuino ed in ottimo stato di conservazione. Bella raccolta iconografica in cui vengono raffigurate pittoresche località dei tre paesi citati nel titolo. Ben 35 tavole sono relative all'Italia.
Cm. 27, pp. 156. Con primo frontespizio illustrato, una carta geografica ripiegata e 63 belle tavole f.t. (ciascuna protetta da velina). Bella legatura coeva in piena pelle verde, dorso a piccoli nervi con titoli e ricchi fregi in oro. Piatti inquadrati da eleganti fregi, tagli dorati. Ex libris. Bell'esemplare, particolarmente fresco, privo di fioriture e con impressione delle incisioni molto forte. Cfr. Blackmer 1845.
Due volumi in uno di cm. 26,5, pp. 364 (2) -516 (70). Con figure in legno (di cui una su una tavola f.t.) e 39 (di 40!) tavole incise in rame fuori testo (di cui 2 ripiegate). Legatura coeva in piena pelle con dorso e nervi (rifatto recentemente) e titoli in oro su tassello originale. Sguardie marmorizzate. Ottimo stato di conservazione, marginoso e fresco. Manca la tavola n. 18 raffigurante un bassorilievo di Villa Giustiniani. Le tavole raffigurano alcune vedute, antichità e due riguardano la situazione agricola del bolognese ed il modo di coltivare la vite in Lombardia. Esemplare cui sono state aggiunte (oltre alle tavole citate) una carta geografica ripiegate a colori dell'Italia centro-settentrionale, e altre 8 tavole provenienti da un opera dello stesso periodo (Lalande?). Seconda edizione (la prima apparve nel 1730) di questo classico viaggio che segue le orme del Grand Tour settecentesco. Cfr. l'enigmatica descrizione che ci offre Cicognara (4153): "Pochissimo noto è in Italia questo viaggio pubblicato con 40 tavole in rame... Vi sono al solito moti errori, ma anche molta semplicità, e poche sinistre prevenzioni"; Pine-Coffin (720/3): "Standard tour with particular reference to art"; Olschki (733): "Wright ed i suoi compagni partono da Dover il 1. marzo 1720. Della Francia sono descritte brevemente Beauvais, Parigi, Lione, Marsiglia dove s'imbarcano... just before the Plague broke out there... (p. 18). Dopo sei giorni di mare burrascoso approdano a San Remo invece che a Livorno. Dall'Italia settentrionale, Venezia, la costa adriatica passano a Napoli e Roma... Rimontano per Siena, Firenze, Bologna, Milano, Verona. Dalla p. 493... rapido transito per il Tirolo, la Germania, l'Olanda. Arrivano a Londra il 17 giugno 1722.".
In-8 (mm. 241x178), 2 volumi, legatura in pelle coeva, dorsi a cordoni con tit. oro (rifatti), pp. XIII,(2),364; (2),365-516 (ma 512), cc.nn. 35 (di Indici e Addenda). I volumi sono molto ben illustrati f.t. da complessive 40 tavole, inc. in rame su disegno di Ger. Vander Gucht, che raffigurano vedute e antichità (statue, busti, bassorilievi), tutte ripieg. (una, “Ruins of the marble bridge of Augustus near Narni”, è più volte ripieg.) - da 1 tavola xilografata e con 1 tabella ripieg., pure inc. in rame. Classico viaggio che segue le orme del Grand Tour Settecentesco. Dopo aver descritto brevemente Beauvais, Parigi, Lione, Marsiglia.. il viaggio prosegue nell’Italia settentrionale fino a Venezia, lungo la costa adriatica e quindi a Napoli e a Roma.. Rimonta verso Siena, Firenze, Bologna, Milano, Verona, Trento.. per finire a Londra (con rapido transito in Tirolo, Germania e Olanda) il 17 giugno 1722. "Prima edizione". Cfr. Dr. Christopher Wordsworth Master Of Trinity And A Nephew Of The Poet William Wordsworth. He Was The Younger Brother Of The Classical Scholar John Wordsworth And Charles Wordsworth Bishop Of Saint Andrews Dunkeld And Dunblane. He Was Educated At Winchester And Trinity Cambridge. Like His Brother Charles He Was Distinguished As An Athlete As Well As For Scholarship. He Won The Chancellor's Gold Medal For Poetry In 1827 And 1828. He Became Senior Classic And Was Elected A Fellow And Tutor Of Trinity In 1830; Shortly Afterwards He Took Holy Orders. He Went For A Tour In Greece In 1832-1833 And Published Various Works On Its Topography And Archaeology The Most Famous Of Which Is "Wordsworth's" Greece 1839. In 1836 He Became Public Orator At Cambridge And In The Same Year Was Appointed Headmaster Of Harrow A Post He Resigned In 1844. In 1844 Sir Robert Peel Appointed Him As A Canon Of Westminster 1844-1869. He Was Vicar Of Stanford In The Vale Berkshire 1850-1869 And Archdeacon Of Westminster 1864-1869.
