In the 1950s following the UN trade embargo on China Hong Kong shifted towards export-led growth in particular the manufacture of textiles and plastic goods. Between 1951 and 1961 exports as a percentage of GDP grew from 30 to 80 percent. Octavo. Tables and advertisements a few colour throughout; section titles printed on green paper; text in Chinese. The first recipe is attributed to the sadly unidentifiable wife of Eduardo Rosal who was appointed the first Filipino consul general in the colony in 1958. The YWCA branch was founded in 1920.
