A resident of Augusta Georgia Black born in Stamping Ground Kentucky in 1842; died in Augusta in 1928 served as a Confederate soldier in the 9th Kentucky Cavalry in Georgia Tennessee and Kentucky. He was also a lawyer state legislator and US representative. General Wheeler born in Augusta Georgia attended West Point becoming one of the youngest Confederate generals at age 26. Styled as the "Venice of America" the new development hoped to target the upper class in search of a European-esque summer holiday destination. The poster includes prospective sketches of the buildings; the price list includes prices for dozens of lots/blocks within the development. A revealing record of how new developments were being marketed to the American public in 1902.<br /> <br /> Printed poster measures 23" by 16.75". Price list is single vol. 6" by 4" pp. 8 stapled in original printed wrps. Bright, crisp copy of the first and by far the scarcest of all the contemporary accounts of Walker's exploits (his groups sank 23 U-boats in total). Both books smell musty Volume one is in very good clean condition and is signed and inscribed by the author. Volume two is signed by the author. It was damp the pages are wavy. Page 61 had an envelope flap stuck to the edge of the page obscuring the last few words of a paragraph.
