A French royal decree setting the rate at which the Compagnie des Indes can redeem gold during the months of February March and April of 1726. This decree was made to facilitate trade in tobacco and coffee in those towns where the Compagnie had offices and to which newly-minted coins had yet to be delivered. Not in Wroth or OCLC. Some of these prizes were seized in American waters. Wroth cites only one copy that in the John Crerar Library; OCLC locates only one more at the University of Minnesota. This Arrest was "prompted by the unloading from a Dutch boat coming from Alexandria and the public sale in Dunkirk a free port of a certain quantity of coffee. The interesting legal point is here raised as to the validity of the Company's privileges in this case as regards its coffee monopoly in a free port" - Maggs. Wroth does not cite any locations for this title only mentioning that it had been reprinted in LE COMMERCE DE L'AMÉRIQUE Avignon 1764. The memorial reprints correspondence between the two men during 1746. The feud was escalated in September of that year when the French captured British-held Madras. La Bourdonnais offered generous and lenient terms to the commander of the island only to have Dupleix disregard them once he was left in command.
