022477Cincinnati: VThe Crosley Corporation Publisher. Unbound. Very Good. no date circa 1939. Roughly 3 by 6 inch booklet unfolding into 6 panels. Black and white photos of a Crosley car included as well as a blue colorized one on the front. A brochure issued presumably for the 1939 World's Fair touting the as of yet produced Crosley car. Production for consumers would start in 1939. Crosley known for its manufacturing of radios and car accessories began this venture to offer sub-compact cars to US consumers. Cars and other vehicles were produced from 1939 to 1952 with production suspended during World War II. Crosley included many innovations on its vehicles that were well ahead of the larger auto manufacturers. While initially popular especially during gas rationing sales declined by 1952 because of competition from larger auto makers. Brochure includes descriptions of the vehicles specifications etc. VERY GOOD condition. Minor toning and edgewear. VThe Crosley Corporation, Publisher unknown

Hill also notes he didn't have any pollock on hand. Amos White was a Dover New Hampshire merchant while Samuel Hill was a merchant in Portsmouth apparently importing items from the ships that anchored there. VERY GOOD. Some fold creases present. Text repeats twice indicating this was meant to be cut into two small handbills. The flier advertises a discussion held by Harriet Muhammad a columnist for Muhammad Speaks the newspaper for the Nation of Islam. Held at the Salem Baptist Church in Los Angeles on Sunday July 12th the discussion covered topics including: "the Muslim Movement the power structure and the Civil Rights Movement;" "Messenger Elijah Muhammad;" "Separation vs. Integration;" and "Proposals of the Nation of Islam." A collection of thank you letters from various candidates for office running in the United States ranging from Vice-President Hubert Humphrey to governor. All signed by the politicians and most accompanied by copies of the original donation letter. From the collection a private businessman who was evidently interested in helping the Democratic Party. Collection includes a 1956 telephone directory and guide to the Democratic National Convention; 1966 typed letter signed by Senator John Sparkman; 1966 typed letter signed by Senator Paul H. Douglas; 1966 typed letter signed by Governor of NH John W. King; 1966 typed letter signed by candidate Endicott Peabody; 1964 Johnson For President Committee letter signed by its treasurer; 1964 Gala Victory Party letter with tickets signed by dinner chairman; 1964 typed letter signed by Representative Eugene Keogh; 1964 typed letter signed by future Vice-President Hubert Humphrey along with a few other typed letters from various political campaign members. A work promoting the use of California lemons as a health and beauty product for use on the hair skin hands manicuring teeth and gums. Seemingly aimed at a female audience with the illustrations depicting what could be considered Flapper Girls. Suggestions for application and use of lemons included. What appears to be either an artist's or photographer's monogram visible on the front cover looking like an M with a triangle. GOOD condition. A rather ornate silk ribbon perhaps issued for a convention or meeting of the Home Literary Association. The piece consists of one large ribbon with two smaller ribbons attached at the top. A silk flower type piece with gold colored sequins in a star formation at the top. Floor Manager patch sewn on. Nothing could be found about the organization. GOOD condition. This issue proposes worldwide economic considerations after the war to create circumstances that would lead to lasting peace. Edited by Helen Alfred who was part of the National Housing Conference's women of the century for her work in affordable housing. GOOD condition. Two horizontal fold creases present. A collection of statements issued by the legislature of Texas rejecting the Wilmot Proviso that would have excluded slavery from territories acquired during the Mexican-American War. The authors consider slavery to be a "domestic institution" of the United States and state that they would "not submit to any law which prohibits the citizens of the southern states from taking their property to any territory which may be acquired from Mexico." The document urges support for the war through tariffs and other means. GOOD condition. Minor to moderate uneven foxing. Some creasing and roughness along the spine edge. Either single sheets or stapled packets. 21 items plus duplicates relating to the 1972 presidential campaign of George McGovern. This includes statements that relay McGovern's thoughts on the economy education foreign aid arms control unemployment senior citizens voting record on labor flyers for events etc. Also included are printings of speeches given by McGovern one from New Hampshire and one from Massachusetts. Several items gather press material either for the media or what the media has said about McGovern. George McGovern was a long time US politician who ran for president in 1968 and 1972. He gained the democratic nomination in 1972 but lost to Nixon. Items range from good to very good condition. Varying amounts of general toning minor soiling creasing and otherwhere to the pieces. Paper covered boards with a calf leather spine. 108 pp. A guide to the practice of arithmetic focusing on addition subtraction multiplication division vulgar fractions barter and trade etc. The work was written by New Hampshire native Phineas Merrill a resident of Stratham NH. Best known as a surveyor he also taught arithmetic and wrote this guide to simplify his classes. GOOD condition ex-library. Exterior call label interior pastedowns and markings present. Several areas of ink staining to the covers with minor soiling and fading. Leather worn along the spine with the other extremities rather bumped scuffed and frayed. Pagination runs from 3 to 134 with all pages MISSING after 134 135/136. With printer's device at the top of the first page of text and an ornately presented first letter of the text. According to his gravestone in Newburyport Murray took part in recruiting volunteers for the Continental Army. This work presents his sermons focusing on Romans V.I. POOR condition lacking and wraps and endpapers as well as pages 135/136. Collated and otherwise complete. Appears disbound from a larger work with white cloth tape and a strip of modern paper along the binding edge of the title page. Moderate to heavy browning to the paper. Minor scattered soiling foxing and staining throughout. Fore edges of the first several pages chipped curled torn and worn with some loss. Upper corners curled over. Minor chipping and tearing along the lower extremity. Tears repaired at the center fore edge of the title page somewhat crudely done with a 3 inch and 1 inch paper patch. Heavy chipping tearing creasing and curling to the last 30 or so pages along the core edge. Large tear to the lower corner of the last page. 1865019501New York: Mrs. Grundy Publisher 1865. Wraps. Poor. Side folding journal. Pagination runs 33-42. Front cover illustration by Thomas Nast. Political cartoons throughout. Fourth issue of this short lived periodical attempting to pick up where Vanity Fair left off. Some of those associated with the journal had worked on Vanity Fair. Mrs. Grundy played a critical observer on the American political scene and supported the Reconstruction as envisioned by Andrew Johnson. The journal ran for a total of 12 issues before closing due to a lack of subscribers. Political satire and commentary throughout including a poem written in dialect from the point of view of an African-American who feels abandoned by the US government. Also present is a full page illustration by Thomas Nast titled "Death on the Rails." POOR condition. Slightly ex-library with faint blindstamp on the front cover. The whole journal is very fragile and brittle with all pages DETACHED from each other. Moderate toning some soiling and moderate to heavy chipping and tearing along the edges. Black and white photos throughout. A pictorial look at Chanute Field a technical training school for soldiers then in the Army Air Force. This includes a look at combat training mechanical and other training involved in maintaining aircraft and ground facilities as well as documentation of entertainment and other aspects of a soldier's life. Many allusions to fighting in World War II throughout as well as photos of various aircraft. Also present is a two page handwritten letter on Army Air Forces letterhead dated October 21 1944 and written from a soldier to his mother and father. This letter describes life at the camp the P.X.s and the author's scheme with another soldier to get a new field jacket. GOOD condition.
