No date but believed circa mid 1840's to early 1850's. 16 pages with 8 illustrations as well as an illustrated front cover of a Native American using a bow and arrow. Paper wrappers with a sewn binding. Rear cover has a list of the various series of books Rufus Merrill publishes. A description of Native Americans in a somewhat flattering light mentioning their noted hospitality and kindness humoruous anecdotes regarding their interactions with American leaders during the Revolutionary War a brief description of their life in wigwams mention of the chief Red Jacket and a picture of the Oregon Native Americans. VERY GOOD condition with some darkening to the covers. Small number 2 in pencil near the title on the front cover. Light edgewear. The first letters of the last two lines of text on the rear cover missing apparently part of the printing process. Inner text is clean and solid with a miniscule tear to the top corner of page 11 some darkening and some pages with text/illustration printed crooked on the pages. Previous owner's signature David Crockett on the inside front cover. Nice copy of this juvenile work with attractive covers and interior and very little wear associated with use by children. The document contains a list of names of Native Americans names of their family members sex and some general remarks indicating many emigrated from Alabama. The document also contains testimony from some Native Americans testifying to the veracity of claims and recalling in very brief terms the emigrations. FAIR/GOOD condition. With locations of Fort Washita Fort Arbuckle Shawnee Village and a Shawnee Town Albuquerque Santa Fe and many other settlements and towns. Presumably issued to accompany the government report of the surveys of this region. POOR condition. Very large horizontal TEAR along the upper fold crease approximately 40 inches in length. Many other small tears along the folds all to some extent affecting the map. Tape repairs by a previous owner to many spots on the reverse. Minor uneven toning to the map. A promotional booklet issued to provide a guide to the 1915 Panama Pacific International Exposition held in San Francisco that was celebrating the opening of the Panama Canal. The booklet contains a short history of the Panama Canal as well as extensive descriptions of the the Exposition itself including the buildings and palaces for the event. It also describes places to visit in San Francisco and California. Includes color illustrations of buildings black and white photos of places in Yosemite the California coast etc. Inside front cover with a bird's eye view map of the Panama Canal region with a bird's eye view map of San Francisco and beyond in the rear. The Panama Pacific International Exposition San Francisco was essentially a World's Fair that while touted as celebrating the opening of the canal also promoted the rebuild of San Francisco after the 1906 earthquake. Consisting of several pages stapled at the middle this presents a detailed floor plan of first class cabins and amenities on the cruise ship S.S. United States. With short advertising copy and information about the 'state of the art' aspects of the ship. The S.S. United States was a passenger cruise ship designed to US Navy specifications and subsidized by the US government as it was to be used as a troop transport ship in wartime should the need arise. It achieved speed records in crossing the Atlantic and was in service from July 1952 to 1969. GOOD condition.
