It gives an account of the expedition of the Ten Thousand an army of Greek mercenaries hired by Cyrus the Younger to help him seize the throne of Persia from his brother Artaxerxes II in 401 BC. Text in Greek and Latin. Quarto: lix 598 p. with a color folding frontispiece map. In a one-half brown calf over marbled paper binding with gilt and blind stamping four raised bands and yellow endpapers. The binding has been expertly rebacked with the remaining portions of the spine laid down and restoration to the corners. The Greek text appears in the upper part of the page the latin translation by Johannes Leunclavius 1533 - 1593 below.
