Serving as a personal defence of his mentor Xenophon's Socrates would be influential on ancient cynicism as well as the teachings of the Stoics. Old ownership signature of John Davie dated 1757 on the endpaper. Second edition of Simpson's useful edition of Xenophon of Athens' Memorabilia or defence of Socrates complete with the Apology. The Greek text appears in the upper part of the page the latin translation by Johannes Leunclavius 1533 - 1593 below.
