191126863Milan: Direzione del Movimento Futurista 1911. Single sheet folded once to make 4pp. Soft horizontal fold to middle else a nice example of this early Futurist music manifesto.

The first musician to "surrender to the persuasion of promises and liberation" Pratella was courted early on by Marinetti to join his new movement that he hoped would breathe new life into Italian culture. Though not as nihilistic as Russolo's Art of Noises published three years later he still makes what at the time were revolutionary demands that musicians break from the traditional proclaiming in a later manifesto that" the new order of disorder should be created by destroying the ancient schemes." 253565Paris: unpublished undated; wartime France our speculation. Three related items: play musical notation and costume watercolors. Play runs perhaps sixty leaves typed recto-only on 12x9 inch mimeo'd flimsies which are hard to count bound with brass brads // the hand-indited sheet music runs 107p. on 12x9 near-cardstock // the costume watercolors = 6p. on oblong 8x11 alkaline paper. All three fascicles are enclosed in a homemade folder hand-embellished. Items are worn with age and handling but reasonably sound; a review of contents will not be a problem. We suspect that immaturity and French doggerel may pose problems to judge by the drawings orange & black which strike us as banal. A consigned item; consigner has read parts our French too poor to follow suit and headed his thumbnail sketch of this item "Teen-Age Gods Playing Games" --the drawings do portray all of the gods as in slim youth so we presume consigner got it right. He also suggests that item was composed under the nazi occupation evidently because other authorial work took place then but also and only possibly because of satirical content. Consigner did research: "Most of Borda's d. 1959 surviving published and recorded music is in the military march category. The duo also worked together on another musical production in 1942 entitled 'Lever a ridaeu'. Valrey issued a small volume of poems Mon petit ami Cupidon in 1942. unpublished unknown books
