Notched and worn along the fold from once being bound within an album as a result the insert remains attached to the bifolium trimmed along the top and bottom to better fit within the album not affecting any music and foxing throughout still a complete and very good copy. For voice and piano. Plate number 403. A note above the music gives context to the song "During the occupation of the Tyrol by the French and after a skirmish between the hostile ranks an infant child was found alone in their camp by the 11th Regiment of the Grand Army of Napoleon." She was raised by the regiment and given the name Maria. By the time she turned 18 however they learned that she was the daughter of the Marchioness de Berkenfield "and by her removed to a sphere more consonant to the dignity of her birth." But Maria found it difficult to adapt to this new lifestyle "and being reproached by her mother with want of pride defended herself in the words of this song. William Hall & Son unknown

Book is in excellent condition. Binding is solid and square, covers have sharp corners, exterior shows no blemishes, text/interior is clean and free of marking of any kind. Undated modern reprint from the 1957 publication.

A parte il rinforzo al dorso e un leggerissimo, quasi invisibile alone all'angolo superiore in buone condizioni di conservazione. NON COMUNE.
In 4° (29,5x23 cm); (8) pp. comprese le brossure. Bel frontespizio con titolo in nero entro cornice xilografica. ben visibile la battuta dela lastra in ogni tavola. Riduzione per pianoforte solo di questa romanza dall'opera La favorita, del grande compositore bergamasco Gaetano Donizetti. Buono stato di conservazione.
Legatura in cartoncino rigido ruvido, con titolo in oro al dorso, protetto da sovraccoperta illustrata con bandelle. Buonissimo lo stato di conservazione, pagine perfettamente tenute, velate da tonalità seppia, come i tagli, ricche di fotografie e illustrazioni, a colori e in bianco e nero, nel testo, con didascalie.
