Some examples in this size are in 12s and 6s. We have found none that are recorded as being fully in 6s. 176 mm. Original worn purple leather binding. Gilt decorated leather spine detached, but present. Rear board detached. Corners worn with loss. Early manuscript ownership of Harriett Lucas Pickney and F. R. Hugar on title page of the Book of Common Prayer. Manuscript notes on verso of title page record of General Thomas Pickney's family captured from his family Bible by F. R. Hugar, information covers the General's marriage 1779 and through various births and deaths until 1848. Other (Huger) Pickney manuscript notes from the 1920's recto of the Preface. Double column throughout. Marbled endpapers. Slight margin loss on in sig A of Book of Common Prayer. Mild damp stain last few signatures of The Whole Book of Psalms. Hardbound. In 1789 the American Episcopal church adopted its first version of the Book of Common Prayer, which was used from 1790 until a major revision was completed in 1892. During this time, several editions of the Book of Common Prayer were published with corrections and other minor changes, of which this 1793 edition was the first. No priority has been established for the several 1793 Gaine varieties and variants. Because of format differences with those found in the record, we think that this is an unrecorded variant (closely allied to: Evans/Shipton & Mooney 26043; Griffiths 1793:11). Rare and Important. **PRICE JUST REDUCED! AI BX 4
