"Sempre basandosi su un metodo scrupolosamente sperimentale, il Redi studia le caratteristiche di tutta una serie di prodotti naturali come il tabacco, il pepe di ciapa, i ragni dell'America, i pesci rossi del fiume Onan, le ossa di pesce donna, il finocchio della China ... Uno dei meriti maggiori del Redi in campo medico è proprio l'aver sostenuto un uso moderato dei medicamenti e l'aver sempre consigliato quelli più semplici e naturali" (cfr. Second edition of this gynaecological classic, in the year of the first printing. The Scotsman Smellie (1697-1763) “contributed more to the fundamentals of obstetrics than virtually any individual. In his ‘Treatise’ he described more accurately than any previous writer the mechanism of parturition, stressing the importance of exact measurement of the pelvis. He was the first to lay down safe rules regarding the use of forceps, and himself introduced the steel-lock, the curved, and the double forceps” (Garrison/M.). - Binding slightly rubbed, but decorative; back hinge beginning to split at upper spine-end. This extraordinary souvenir album incorporates not only the entire first 15 months of the weekly paper issued by the Naval hospital chronicling 1945 and 1946 events overseen by Rear Admiral Chambers but also incorporates 188 photographs providing essential visual documentation. The National Naval Medical Center at the urging of President Franklin D. Roosevelt former Secretary of the Navy pressed for the construction of the facility which was dedicated and operating by the time the U.S. entered World War II with Rear Admiral Bunker in command. Originally desinged to hold 1200 Beds the Naval Medical School the Naval Dental School and the Naval Medical Research Institute the facility quickly outgrew its’ space and additional temporary buildings were added to accommodate over 2400 American sailors and Marines by the end of World War II. The photos document the celebrity visits by Alan Ladd Veronica Lake Irene Dunne who had appeared in My Favorite Wife the Awful Truth and Anna and the King of Siam Bing Crosby Danny Kaye and others. In addition there are photos of Harold Russell double-amputee that won the best supporting actor Academy Award for “The Best Years of Our Loves.†Also included are photos of the WAVES Hospital Corps School participants nurses surgical facilities hospital wards patients and much more. The facility pioneered comprehensive occupational therapy techniques to rehabilitate injured Naval personnel and US Marines. Byers b. 1901 was a lifelong Carroll County Maryland resident who served in the U.S. Navy from 1942-1946 and afterwards was elected to the Westminster City Council in 1951 and also owned and operated the F.A. Sharrer Funeral Home. Although never operating a professional studio 1000s of his images preserved in the Historical Society of Carroll County chronicle Maryland life. Ces quatre mémoires ont pour objet l'utilisation du baromètre pour la mesure de l'altitude et dans des applications géographiques et météorologiques. Ramon avait établi le rapport entre l'altitude, la température et la pression de l'air en travaillant sur les propositions de Laplace contenues dans son Système d'exposition du monde. Il fut le premier à appliquer sa propre méthode durant ses voyages aux Pyrrénées et dans le Massif central , cette méthode fut aussitôt suivie par Arago, Humbold et Biot. L'ouvrage se veut également un guide précis pour les mesures basées sur le baromètre. Les mémoires ont été révisés et complétés pour cette édition et l'auteur a ajouté une instruction élémentaire. [500 manoscritto - Arezzo] (cm. 29.5 x 21) ottima piena pergamena antica ben restaurata, sguardie antiche non originali. Manoscritto cartaceo autografo composto di 120 carte numerate + 81 carte numerate (ultime 3 bianche) scritte al recto e al verso. Contiene epigrammi, odi, elegie ed epistole inedite, in gran parte ancora ignote e non riferite dal Massetani nel suo dizionario biografico degli Aretini. Come altri manoscritti anche il nostro inizia con "Aemilii Vezosii philosphi ac medici arretini". Dei componimenti ivi contenuti il Massetani riferisce solo di elegie latine in sei libri. Pertanto epigrammi, odi ed epistole sembrano a tutt'oggi sconosciute. Il nostro manoscritto del poco noto medico aretino (1565-1637) è così tutto da studiare in quanto aggiunge nuovi suoi scritti che costituiscono una scoperta. Per confronti circa la autobiografia vedi il codice 38 della biblioteca civica della città di Arezzo. Per notizie biografiche vedi: Massetani "Dizionario biografico degli Arettini" n°3688. Purtroppo è in cattivo stato di conservazione, a causa dell'inchiostro perforante alcune carte risukltano illeggibili, molte sono corrose al centro con grave perdita di circa la metà del testo. Pertanto è stato completamente restaurato nel 2001 dal laboratorio di restauro di Foligno, rinforzato con veline foglio a foglio onde impedire ulteriori perdite. Nonostante questo, resta un documento indiscutibilmente prezioso e unico che da nuova luce alla figura del medico aretino.
