Importante raccolta di scritti medici sotto forma di lettere, riguardanti soprattutto l’anatomia, del celebre forlivese Morgagni (1682-1771) che, vivente, meritò il titolo di "Anatomicorum totius Europae princeps". "Prima edizione napoletana" con il 4° volume in aggiunta dal titolo “Epistolae anatomicae duae”, novas obsevationes, et animadversiones complectentes, quibus anatome augetur, anatomicorum inventorum historia evolvitur utraque ab erroribus vindicatur. Legatura degli inizi del XX° secolo in piena tela foderata con bella carta coeva a motivi floreali rossi e verdi e fascetta in pelle con titolo in oro al dorso. Esemplare completo di tutte le tavole fuori testo. Bella veste grafica e stampato su carta grossa di ottima qualità. Tagli spruzzati in azzurro. Prima non comune edizione di questo importante testo di fisiologia ed anatomia illustrato da belle tavole più volte ripiegate del noto medico aretino Giovanni Battista Presciani (1754 - 1799). Amico di Giambattista Borsieri conobbe anche Volta e fu a lungo professore a Pavia. Legatura coeva in p. pergamena rigida. Opera di chirurgia oftalmica. Nel 1713 Anel effettuò la prima cateterizzazione del condotto lacrimale, rivoluzionando il trattamento di affezioni dell'apparato lacrimale. Melli e Francesco Signorotti furono i più convinti oppositori delle procedure di Anel. Originariamente pubblicato nel 1713, questo lavoro contiene una traduzione del lavoro di Anel con i commenti di Melli, e le critiche di Signorotti a Anel.

In-folio antico (332x215mm), pp. (2), XX, (54) nn. di "Beschreibung der einzeln Muskel die Knochen bewegen" (le ultime 5 pp. sono di indice), (44) di "Beschreibung der Muskel, welche weiche Theile bewegen"; legatura moderna m. pelle nera con dorso adorno di titolo e filetti in oro e di fregi a secco. Complessive 38 tavv. f.t. incise su acciaio, di cui le prime 6 su doppio foglio con raffigurazioni generali dell'anatomia interna ed esterna dei muscoli umani; 17 altre incisioni intercalate n.t. (la numerazione delle tavv. nel volume è desultoria e autonoma a seconda delle parti di cui l'opera si compone). Le tavv. furono incise dal viennese K. Ponheimer (soltanto la prima è segnata). Bruniture lievi, aloni al margine superiore di numerose tavv. e cc., soprattutto verso la fine del volume, ma più che discreto esemplare nell'insieme. Seconda tiratura della seconda edizione (la prima tiratura di tale edizione reca la data del 1819 ed è sostanzialmente identica alla presente) di questo stimato atlante anatomico dei muscoli del corpo umano. La prima edizione apparve a Vienna nel 1786 per i tipi di Anton Gassler. Il Barth (La Valletta, Malta, 1745–Vienna, 1818) fu professore di anatomia e oftlamologia a Vienna dal 1773 e culista di Giuseppe II d'Asburgo dal 1776.
