(mm. 308 x 220), tela moderna, titolo oro su tassello al dorso, conserv. cop. orig., pp. VII,179, con 2 magnifiche grandi tavole inc. in rame, più volte ripieg.: la prima, a colori, è una carta topografica dei Colli Euganei - la seconda, in bianco e nero, raffigura il “profilo dei Colli Euganei projettato in un piano parallelo al piano del Meridiano e anche l'emersione della trachite in Cingolina”. "Edizione originale" di questa rara ed importante opera geologica. Cfr. Cat. Buzzanca 1976: “L’opera del naturalista Da Rio (Padova 1765-1845) contiene un vero e proprio catalogo ragionato delle rocce ed altri minerali dei Colli Euganei, con ampi cenni sulle acque termali della regione”. Esemplare con barbe, intonso e ben conservato.

Collationnés : quelques erreurs de placement des hors-textes mais il ne manque qu'une seule planche (Année 1874, manque une carte topographique du Mont Pelvoux), en revanche présence de figures, cartes et panoramas supplémentaires, non annoncés. Demi-chagrin aubergine, plats papier imitation chagrin assortis, dos à cinq nerfs portant titres et tomaisons dorées, gardes marbrées. Quelques marques sur le cuir, des frottements sur les dos et les plats, tranches piquées, un défaut d'impression p.68 de l'année 1899, un petit trou p.79 de la table, sinon intérieur propre, certains cahiers non coupés, bon état général, rare et bel ensemble. Precede l'opera dedica ai lettori e a Francesco Maria della Rovere. All'interno della cornice di una conversazione appreso della corte estense, il nobile bolognese Maggio - che ha raggiunto Ferrara per rendersi conto dei danni causati dal terremoto a palazzi e chiese - analizza le sue possibili cause con Fabio Albergati, Paolo Casali, e Giulio Dalla Porta, che respinge la interpretazione di cause dovute ad eventi soprannaturali o miracolosi. Una traduzione francese del dialogo è stato pubblicato a Parigi nel 1575. "In his dialogue [...] naturalist explanations dominate and religion fades away. Just as in portion of Buoni's dialogue, the emphasis on naturalistic explanations was intended to undermine the papal claims of divine punishment. Maggio's primary goal was to demonstrate that the Ferrarese earthquakes were not supernatural. To do this he tried to reconcile the differences between the particularities of the Ferrarese earthquakes and general Aristotelian understanding of the causes of earthquakes, that is, minimize any discrepancies between accepted theories of the natural causes of earthquakes and what was observed at Ferrara, which might suggest that these events were miracolous" (C. In-folio (cm. 43,5), pp. xiv (2) 352, vi (2). Solida legatura ottocentesca in mezza pelle marrone marmorizzata e angoli con dorso a nervetti con titolo in oro entro tassello rosso. Frontespizio in rosso e in nero con vignetta. Testatine e capilettera incisi in rame. Esemplare genuino ed assai marginoso, ben conservato. Rara prima edizione su quest'opera che tratta del sisma che colpì nel 1783 la Calabria e parte della Sicilia. I testi sono di Michele Sarcone e di altri studiosi della Reale Accademia delle Scienze di Napoli. Non è presente, come in quasi tutti gli esemplari, il raro atlante iconografico, pubblicato a parte.
