Je vais vous faire envoyer un exemplaire des Miracles dAlain- Fournier, pour qui votre sollicitude, au moment o vous vous occupiez de la collection Larousse, mavait tellement touch...Fils d'un grand mdecin bordelais, Jacques Rivire se lie d'amiti avec Alain-Fournier (1886-1914) sur les bancs du lyce Lakanal, Sceaux, o tous deux prparent le concours d'entre l'cole normale suprieure. Le 24 aot 1908, il pouse la jeune soeur d'Alain-Fournier, Isabelle (1889-1971), dont il aura deux enfants. D'abord collaborateur L'Occident, il devient secrtaire de rdaction de la Nouvelle Revue franaise en 1911. Mobilis en 1914 au 220' rgiment d'infanterie, il est fait prisonnier le 24 aot, ds les premires chauffoures. Gravement malade, il est transfr en Suisse en 1917 et intern jusqu' la fin de la guerre. Au lendemain du conflit, il songe relancer la NRF dont la parution avait t interrompue. Sous sa nouvelle direction, elle reparat en juin 1919. Rivire y dploie de remarquables qualits en publiant Marcel Proust, Franois Mauriac, Paul Valry, Louis Aragon. En 1919, il reoit le Prix Blumenthal. Il n'crira qu'un court roman psychologique, Aime, paru en 1922. Aprs sa mort, son pouse Isabelle se consacre la publication de ses ?uvres, en mme temps que de celles de son frre Alain-Fournier. Louis Artus (1870-1960) est un crivain franais.

Acquaforte misure: mm 355 x 500; foglio mm 505 x 700 Pittore e incisore italiano formatosi presso l'Istituto di Belle Arti di Modena seguendo i corsi di Salvatore Postiglione (Napoli 1861 - Napoli 1906). Si interessò sia alla pittura che all'incisione e realizzò circa duecento lastre impiegando l'acquaforte, l'acquatinta e la puntasecca. Le sue opere vennero apprezzate sia dal pubblico che dalle critica ed espose in molte città italiane ed estere come Parigi, Berlino, Chicago ed Atene. Le sue incisioni vennero premiate nel 1930 alla XVII Biennale di Venezia. Baracchi sceglie una quieta assolata giornata per mostraci il Rio dei Mendicanti, al confine tra i sestieri di Cannaregio e Castello, e la Scuola di San Marco. Molti vedutisti veneziani come, per esempio, Francesco Guardi (Venezia 1712 - Venezia 1793) e Canaletto (Venezia 1712 - Venezia 1793) scelsero questo scorcio per i loro dipinti. Nel foglio le facciate degli edifici si affacciano a sinistra sul canale e chiudono la scena, indagati nei minimi particolari fanno da quinta teatrale e indirizzano lo sguardo dello spettatore verso il ponte del Cavallo e l'armoniosa facciata della Scuola istituita nel 1260. Il rio è una lunga fuga prospettica centrale, la luce gioca un ruolo decisivo nella composizione riflettendosi sulla superficie dell'acqua. A destra alcune figurette in ombra animano il campo. In basso oltre l'inciso a matita: Venezia Rio dei Mendicanti, numerazione 27/100 e firma. Impressione eccellente, dai neri intensi. Ottimo stato di conservazione. Ampi margini oltre la battuta del rame.
