19410002287NEW YORK NYC MOSCOW USSR 1941. On offer is an interesting original group of papers relating to Russian-American writer and biographer Eva Robin. The correspondence dated May 13th 1941 between Mrs. Robin of New York and Professor A.C. Timiryazev of Moscow USSR. Mrs. Robin wrote a biographical sketch of Prof. Timiryazev's father Klementi Arkadavich Timiryazev. There are two copies of the letter from Prof. Timiryazev the second one signed. A third page appears to be a synopsis. Following is the 24 page biography titled A BRIEF SKETCH OF THE LIFE OF - Klementi Arkadaviich Timiryazev - Patriarch and Semi-Exile of Tzarist Russia. Overall VG. BIO NOTES 1: Kliment Arkadievich Timiryazev 1843-1920 was a Russian botanist physiologist. He founded a faculty of vegetable physiology and a laboratory at the Petrov Academy. BIO NOTES 2:Eva Robin was born in Russia around 1877 and came to the U.S. with her family when she was six years old. She served as president of the Delaware Equal Suffrage Association and the National Council of Jewish Women in Wilmington. She was also involved in the Marshall Stillman Movement. The collection consists of Robin's literary manuscripts correspondence notes a scrapbook photographs and ephemera. Some of the material relates to her husband Dr. Albert Robin who was noted for his work in pathology and bacteriology. Very Good. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. Manuscript. paperback

Insomnia was directed by Christopher Nolan starring Robin Williams Al Pacino Hilary Swank and Martin Donovan. The film tells the story of Will Dormer Pacino a police detective who is sent to investigate a teenage girl’s murder in a small fishing town in Alaska where he accidentally shoots his co-detective Swank and is afflicted by insomnia brought on by the guilt of his action and the incessant midnight sun. Jones from a total edition of 250 quarto size 80 pp. signed by Robin Skelton Sara Philpott and Peter R. Jones with extra material about the special binding. This volume one of ten with a special binding by Peter R. Jones; Peter received his Licentiate of Designer Bookbinders in 1991 Fellow in 1995 and served as President from 2005-2007. He has exhibited widely and his work is represented in collections both private and institutional in the UK Europe and the USA. Of his work Peter says "My work is driven by structure and materials. There is a great sense of achievement to be gained from seeing the product of one's own labour." n. b. above from the web site of Peter Jones.<br/><br/>The work is by Robin Skelton 1925-1997 an English writer editor anthologist and Professor of English. The twenty-four poems in "Lens of Crystal" were written both as a tribute to his own Celtic ancestry and as a means of recognition for the English speaking world. The poems are taken from medieval Welsh texts from the sixth to the fourteenth-centuries reproduced with humble mastery and taking few liberties.<br/><br/>Sara Philpott is a contemporary Welsh painter and printmaker.
