Blanchard lavorò nel Museo Nazionale di storia naturale per un lungo periodo e nel 1862 diventà Presidente della sezione di storia naturale dei crostacei, invertebrati e insetti. L'opera è composta da due volumi ed è completa.Il primo tomo è dedicato agli Imenotteri e Coleotteri, il secondo ad altri tipi di insetti. Alla fine di ogni volume 10 planches molto dettagliate per un totale di 20 planches. Note manoscritte con matita colorata. In buone condizioni Copertina in mezza pelle coeva con titolo in oro al dorso in buone condizioni con lievi usure ai margini e dorso. Legatura in buone condizioni. Pagine in buone condizioni con fioriture e rare bruniture. Leggerissime gore d'umidità all'angolo inferiore destro. Planches dalla 18 alla 20 sono state invertite.Original edition of 1845 of this treaty work about history of insects by the famous french entomologist and zoologist Emile Blanchard (1819-1900). He worked in the National Museum of Natural history for a long time and in 1862 he became President of Natural History crustaceans, invertebrates and insects. This work is made up of two volumes and it is complete. The first tome is dedicated to Hymenopters and Coleopterons, the second one to the other kind of insects. At the end of each tome there are ten out of text very detailed planches for a total of 20 planches. Handwritten notes with coloured pencil. In good conditions. Half leather coeval cover with golden title and decorations in the spine in good general conditions slightly worn. Binding in good conditions. Pages are in good conditions with foxings and occasional yellowings. Very slight water stain in the lower right corner. Planches from 18 to 20 have been bound inverted.

Rare.This is the most important work that the German entomologist Johann Christoph Friedrich Klug (1775-1856) produced. He was professor of medicine and entomology in the Humboldt-Universitat (University of Berlin) where he curated the insect collections from 1810 to 1856. At the same time he directed the Botanic Garden in Berlin which contains his collections. Klug worked mainly on Hymenoptera and Coleoptera.

Original printed front cover bound in.Important early monograph on European Aphidae with beautiful hand-coloured illustrations and including many new species described by Koch. The work was edited by Herrich-Schaeffer, who stated, in the preface dated December 1853, that the work would be finished in ten issues with 60 plates, but it was completed in nine issues with 54 plates. Carl Ludwig Koch (born in 1778) died in the year it was published. The first and the last few plates are a bit foxed in the margins with some marginal foxing in the text as well.
