According to DNB the scheme outlined in the present work was meant "to support the university studies of young men of promise seeking entry into the ministry." The plan "was approved by John Worthington and Anthony Tuckney and had the support also of John Arrowsmith DD Ralph Cudworth William Dillingham DD and Benjamin Whichcote. The fund raised about £900 and it appears that William Sherlock afterwards dean of St Paul's received assistance from this fund during his studies at Peterhouse Cambridge until 1660 when he graduated BA. Those entrusted with administering the fund sent Poole regular reports on students interviewed and the ratings they had received in philosophy logic and languages. The scheme was abandoned at the Restoration." Poole 1624 - 79 was the author of a number of controversialist pamphlets on subjects ranging from Unitarianism to preaching by lay persons before undertaking his major work: a synthesis of critical biblical commentaries "Synopsis criticorum aliorumque sacrae scripturae interpretum." This is one of his scarcest writings: ESTC lists seven copies two in North America while ABPC and RBH record just two copies at auction. s.n. Printed Anno Domini unknown

1935429j1675Gardenvale Quebec: The Garden City Press. Good with no dust jacket. 1935. Hardcover. "Ever since the English Bank Act of 1844 the creation issuance and the regulation of the circulation of the current medium of exchange have been in large measure delegated in blind faith and absolute confidence to bankers and financiers. The complete collapse of the economic structure under banker management proves that the private control of credit is fundamentally unsound. Necessity now compels all to recognize that the creation and issuance of the medium of exchange the monetization of public credit the circulation of the medium of exchange and the general supervision of the monetary system must be restored to government. We must drive the money changers out of the temples of government and put the spirit of Christ in charge." - Preface. Chapters include: The Spirit of Lincoln; Democracy or Money Power; Money is Economic Power; War and Usury; Signs of Emancipation; Lincoln The Practical Economist; Lincoln's Way Out; Lincoln and Roosevelt; The Prince of Crusaders. "Gerald Grattan McGeer 18881947 was a lawyer populist politician and monetary reform advocate in the Canadian province of British Columbia. He served as the 22nd Mayor of Vancouver a Member of the Legislative Assembly in BC Member of Parliament for the Liberal Party of Canada and in the Canadian Senate. In the early part of the Great Depression McGeer became a zealous student of economics and soon became obsessed with monetary reform as the answer to the economic crisis. He eventually came up with his own theories which he cobbled together from the work of John Maynard Keynes Abraham Lincoln and the Bible. On one occasion he hypothesized that international 'money power' was financing Communists activities in Vancouver. Another time he testified before the government that Abraham Lincoln was assassinated by international bankers opposed to the introduction of 'Greenbacks'. McGeer's lifelong mission was to attain a position where he could implement his reform ideas but his flamboyant aggressive and eccentric style and theories alienated the powerbrokers in his own party." - Wikipedia. 2 XIX 1 359 pp. Charts and tables. Liebman 1907-1986 atop half-title. "Poetic beauty and religious fervor flow from the memoirs and letters of this young Jew of Mexico City who was burned at the stake on December 8 1596 accused of secretly practicing forbidden Jewish rites. These documents and his spiritual Last Will and Testament are starkly moving witnesses to a dark period in the social history of that part of New Spain that is now Mexico." - dust jacket. "On the surface it would seem madness for millionaires to strive for Communism but there is irrefutable evidence that they do so strive and in Russia have in fact created a dictatorship which masquerades under the name of Communism while its only real achievement has been the liquidation of the gentile aristocracy and every Christian institution. The facts revealed in this book including the detailed plan for world revolution and world government discovered long before the first world war are so damning that no newspaper would dare to offend British readers by denying the truth. Hence the discreet silence in the Press and the slowness with which vital knowledge is spread. Their aim is a World State and a Slave State in which the masters will be of one tribe and one religious persuasion. Without the financial and more important the diplomatic and propaganda assistance given to Trotsky and Lenin by Thompson Robins and their New York Associates the Bolsheviks may well have withered away and Russia evolved into a socialist but constitutional society." - Antony C. "Re-examines the record in order better to appreciate the past and present problems of Europe political and economic. The career of Hjalmar Schacht happens to be an excellent mirror for those problems: why democracy fell in Germany as it had in much of the world; why the unspeakable Nazi came to despotic power over one of the most cultured and civilized nations of the world; whether dictatorships are better qualified to deal with the complexities of industrial life; why foreign trade in the post-war world departed so far from the cherished principles of the nineteenth century; how and why war came to Europe and the world in 1939; how the citizen can react to the modern police state; what can be done to remove a modern dictator or whether it is possible at all; whether one major trend of the modern world class struggle can be replaced by the other nationalism; whether 'strong-man-rule' is the proper solution to the 'Bolshevik Danger'; what action can be taken to curb the dominant trend in the economy toward inflation; how should peace-loving powers treat a fanatical dictator - with force or with conciliation. It is a study of these basic problems of modern civilization rather than merely as the study of an individual who sought and obtained world-wide fame that this work was attempted." - Foreword. "Tells the story of the unusual and highly secret relationship between Abdullah the Hashemite ruler of Jordan and the Zionist movement. Spanning three eventful decades from the appointment of Abdullah as Emir in 1921 to his assassination in 1951 it focuses in particular on the clandestine diplomacy and the political and military processes which determined the fate of Palestine between 1947 and 1950 and which left the Palestinian Arabs without a homeland. Proves conclusively that Abdullah not only colluded with the Zionists to gain control over as much of Arab Palestine a possible but that he also received occasional payments for his collaboration. A riveting account which demolishes many of the myths and legends that have come to surround the birth of Israel the origins of the Palestinian problem and the causes of the Arab-Israeli conflict." - dust jacket. xvi 676 p.
