They date from her return to New York from Paris in 1929 where she had worked as Man Ray's assistant created an archive of Atget's work and developed her own career as a photographer. The images here range from her earliest photographs in New York City the American south lumberjacks in California's High Sierra Mountains and the sophisticated bohemia of Greenwich Village. His son James joined the firm in 1877 before taking over the business on the death of his father Thomas in 1887.
