Gowen studied engineering at Harvard but was so "happy-go-lucky" that he spent as much time studying poetry and drama. After gracuation he worked as a civil engineers on the construction of the subway system in New York. His family reports that he had so much digging up the city that he turned it into a treasure hunt. The 1971 yearbook covers the 1970 season and provides a lot of great coverage of Yankee players including Mel Stollemyre Thurman Munson Roy White Fritz Peterson and Bobby Mercer. </p> books

Scarce and unusual complimentary type program that were handed out to fans at Yankee Stadium. Since the second page refers to games 34 and 5 it appears the first two games had already been completed. The first page includes a black and white photo of Yankee Stadium illustrating an actual game. The front page gives historical series results and attendance numbers. The two inside pages were meant to help the fan keep score. This copy is unmarked. The back page gives player stats for both teams. An unusual and somewhat scare bit of World Series history. The Yanks took this series in seven games despite a poor performance from Mantle and Maris.</p> books

Baseball Magazine was published for almost 50years ending in the late 1950s. This copy was probably the first published after the official end of WWII. An editorial in this edition talks about post war plans by some teams to improve their stadiums. This would include the New York Yankees. The cover photograph features the Chicago Clubs' pitching staff.
