A limited edition facsimile of the important 1532 folio collecting together the works of Chaucer. A limited edition of one thousand copies of which this is numbered three hundred and five.A facsimile of the 1532 first collected edition of the works of Geoffrey Chaucer spelt to the original titled page of 'Geffray Chaucer'. A faithful facsimile of a copy held at the British Museum. This publication was the first attempt to collected the complete works of Chaucer into one volume containing an authoritative printing of 'The Canterbury Tales' and his other important writings. Additionally printed alongside Chaucer's works are a few pieces by other authors such as Lydgate and Henryson which at the time of Pynson's edition were thought to have been penned by Chaucer. With an introduction by Walter W. Skeat. The folio edition was edited by William Thynne. In the original publisher's quarter cloth binding with paper to the boards. Externally generally smart. Spine is age-toned. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine heavier to the extremities. Spine labels are rubbed and chipped. Light marks and rubbing to the boards and spine with one small tidemark to the front board. Puncture marks to the tail of the front board. Fading to the rear joint. Internally firmly bound.
