Envoi signé : « à ma tante qui est mon amie Jean Cocteau ». . C'est en 1909 que paraît le premier ouvrage de Jean Cocteau La Lampe d'Aladin : dès cette période il fréquente les artistes bohêmes et on le surnomme déjà « le prince frivole » terme qu'il retiendra pour son second recueil à paraître l'année suivante. Grâce à son oncle Raymond Lecomte Cocteau avait été introduit dans les salons mondains où sa mère cotôyait Nadar et Jacques-Émile Blanche. Ce diplomate homosexuel compta beaucoup pour le jeune homme tout comme toute la branche maternelle « Les Eugène » comme les surnomme Cocteau qui témoignent de l'influence considérable qu'eurent son grand-père sa mère prénommés Eugène et Eugénie et ses oncles et tantes sur son imaginaire au point d'inspirer Le Potomak paru en 1914. Des « Eugène » Cocteau avait deux oncles : Raymond donc et Maurice qui est aussi son parrain. Ce dernier avait épousé en 1884 Marie Jacob : c'est chez sa tante que le jeune garçon trouvera refuge en mars 1898 quelques jours avant le suicide de son père le 5 avril. Marie Lecomte s'occupera de son neveu plusieurs semaines durant lors de cette période difficile et les liens familiaux entre eux deux seront toujours présents.
