Mary Russell Mitford's play Foscari premiered at the Theatre Royal on November 4th 1826 less than ten days before this performance. The play's protagonist Francesco Foscari was the longest reigning doge in Venetian history. Foscari was played by Charles Kemble a member of the great Kemble acting family alongside Charles Mayne Young James Prescott Warde and Daniel Egerton. The lower portion of the broadside lists forthcoming productions. Mitford had completed her play and given it to the theater prior to the 1821 publication of Byron's drama The Two Foscari based on the same subject but tensions between the actors Kemble and William Macready led to Mitford's play being pushed back by five years. <br/><br/> Printed by W.
