Zlotowitz (1925-2015), a renowned leader in the American Jewish Reform movement who taught on the faculties of the University of North Carolina, HUC-JIR, and retired as Professor of Bible at the Academy for Jewish Religion. He earned his doctorate at HUC-JIR under the direction of Harry Orlinsky (1908-1992), who contributed an introductory essay to his student's dissertation which was published as 'The Septuagint Translation of the Hebrew Terms in Relation to God in the Book of Jeremiah' (KTAV, 1981). In addition to several popular works, Zlotowitz was also co-author/translator (with Martin Rozenberg) of the Book of Psalms: A New Translation and Commentary (Aronson, 1999).
