Book is in excellent condition. Binding is solid and square, covers have sharp corners, exterior shows no blemishes, text/interior is clean and free of marking of any kind with age-toned paper. 113 pages, mostly b&w with color section at back. Pages 36 -106 contain over 200 examples of batik motifs, designs, configuations, illustrations, symbols, with explanations of what they represent: gamelan melody, bondet, bumblebee from Sanskrit, flying pigeon, Gringsing, kupu: butterfly, Mirong: contrast, peksi, etc.
Book shows light shelf wear only, in bright red buckram with sharp corners. Text/interior is marked heavily in pencil in the introduction, very occasionally in the text of the play itself. 125 pages. Dust jacket shows small tears, edge wear. Text of play is given in analytic transliteration in Roman script with a word-for-work translation underneath. Plot concerns a holy man demonstrating to his materialistic disciple that there is such a thing as the soul by using his gogic powers to transfer his own soul into the body of a beautiful, young courtesan who has just died of a snake bite. Hilarity ensues.
