Carattere prevalentemente psicologico, hanno i 'Saggi sul Petrarca', che sono il primo grande esempio di interpretazione di un opera poetica in funzione dell'animo dell'autore.
In -8°, pp. (4), 256, XX (ma 16); mezza pelle verde, titolo e fregi al dorso. La prima edizione di questi saggi fu stampata sempre a Lugano, nel 1824.
Opera completa in 5 volumi con legature editoriali in brossura con titoli e fregi a stampa, copia molto genuina con barbe e carte bianche ma con mancanze ai dorsi piuttosto importanti soprattutto al volume quinto. RG5.

Opera in due volumi con legatura coeva in cartonato rigido marmorizzato, dorsi con tasselli in pelle rossa, fregi e titoli in oro. Esemplare nel complesso in buono stato di conservazione, carte fresche ma lievemente brunite, buoni i margini, con barbe. Graziosa edizione parigina (Londra è infatti un falso luogo di stampa) delle Rime del Petrarca con ritratto dell'Autore f.t finemente inciso in rame all'antiporta del primo volume; vignette, finalini e belle testatine xilografiche.
