This Petrarch bibliography describes about 2700 works published from 1989 to 2003. Entries are arranged in twenty-one chapters covering the entire range of Petrarch scholarship, e. g. bibliographies of manuscripts, the influence of classical and medieval authors on Petrarch?s poetry, iconography, musical compositions inspired by him, new critical editions, etc. Most entries include an abstract of the contents. Antiporta calcografico con il ritratto di Petrarca inciso su rame dal medaglista Giovanni Bernardi e "Veduta della casa in Arezzo ove nacque Francesco Petrarca" incisa da Giacomo Cattaneo. Quattro tavole calcografiche con il confronto di alcuni versi del Petrarca nelle diverse edizioni catalogate ed una bella xilografia con il dettaglio "del trionfo della fama" dall'edizione dei "Trionfi" pubblicata dal "Zopino" nel 1524. Al colophon "Edizione di sole cencinquanta copie in quarto" questo esemplare è il N° 86 di 150. Rara prima ed unica edizione originale di questo saggio - catalogo bibliografico che da conto di centinaia di edizioni a stampa del Petrarca a partire dal 1470 fino al 1826 con una breve sezione finale dedicata ai codici manoscritti dei secoli precedenti. L'opera si conclude con specifici indici di componimenti, personaggi ed edizioni rare. L'intera collezione qui descritta venduta dall'autore al Re di Francia Carlo X. Minimi segni del tempo alla rilegatura e piccolo monogramma in grafia coeva al margine di testa del frontespizio, nel complesso ottimo esemplare, fresco, non rifilato, in barbe.</p>

The attention he gives to Caesar concerns some facts regarding family history and his personal qualities such as courage and intellect. While the primary source is Suetonius Petrarch reports personal details not found in the Divus Julius such as the year of Caesars birth the names of his parents and his youthful prowess in Greek Latin and rhetoric. This copy certainly captures the essence of a students enthusiasm for pouring over the text leaving their mark and even excising what they like. Despite this the volume includes all of the valuable commentaries on the Gallic and Civil Wars all Books and ending belli Alexandrini fuerunt as it should. Apud C. Boutesteyn & S.
