"Sixteen Upbuilding Discourses" consists of the popular Two Three and Four Upbuilding Discourses. The unsold copies of these "Opbyggelige Taler" "Upbuilding Discourses" were initially collected under the title "Atten opbyggelige Taler" Eighteen Upbuilding Discourses and published with a collected title-page; when "To opbyggelige Taler" "Two Upbuilding Discourses" from 1843 was sold out the remaining sixteen upbuilding discourses were published with the title-page "Sexten opbyggelige Taler". The number of copies of this scarce title is said to be well under 100 and is thus by far the rarest of all of Kierkegaard's books. </em> unknown

Il presente volume si assegna il compito di ricostruire il significato teoretico che il desiderio riveste nel pensiero kierkegaardiano. Il tema del desiderio è analizzato a partire dalla sua inscindibile relazione col femminile. Si tratta di un lavoro inedito in Italia il cui obiettivo è restituire al pensiero del filosofo una più autentica e feconda dimensione volta ad affrancare il pensatore da una linea di lettura che, per troppo tempo, ne ha fatto o il precursore dell'esistenzialismo o il seguace del sistema hegeliano. Lontano dal dibattito femminista del tempo, Kierkegaard è tuttavia tra i primi a prendere seriamente in considerazione la portata ontologica del rapporto uomo-donna, spostandone la riflessione dal piano astratto e sovraindividuale a quello personale e soggettivo. Il desiderio, nella sua variante sensuale e spirituale, è scandagliato, descritto e messo in luce nelle poliedriche forme delle individualità degli pseudonimi. La riflessione sui sessi è assunta a parte integrante nell'esperienza della soggettività. Una significativa parte della monografia si concentra sulla ricostruzione teoretica delle principali figure femminili al fine di ricomporre il significato che il rapporto tra i sessi e, più in generale, l'amore riveste nella dialettica degli stadi. Soprattutto l'originalità con cui il filosofo ha rivisitato alcune celebri figure e parabole bibliche ha indotto la critica a dare ampio risalto alle strategie ermeneutiche praticate dal danese. Tuttavia, ben prima di diventare un sofisticato e prolifico interprete della Bibbia Kierkegaard è stato un ascoltatore assiduo e ricettivo della parola di Dio. A tal punto che le forme stesse del suo pensiero portano impresso il conio della matrice biblica in cui sono state concepite. Questo libro si focalizza sulla categoria di Gjentagelse, uno degli esiti più significativi della filosofia kierkegaardiana, e intende mostrare che la categoria in questione, colta nelle sue determinazioni fondamentali, ha per archetipi il senso tipico e la concezione profetica del tempo veicolata dal simbolismo biblico.
