The Political Poster Workshop was a loose collective of student activists that formed in 1970 out of screenprinting classes led by MalaquÃas Montoya an important figure in the Chicano Art Movement and lecturer at Berkeley. Some scuffs and stains.<br/><br/> Delicate and charming pressed fern specimen placed on a white sheet by an accomplished hand mounted on scrap book paper. Calligraphy notes in manuscript describe the scene where the specimen was obtained. The herbarium is comparable to a library of preserved plants with the specimens and labels providing all the information. In fact the label and specimen are equally important. A wonderful advertisement for Monarch Foods the cards featured various company products arranged in such a way which created an optical illusion of one of them seemingly looking smaller than the other. One of the cards also included photographs of three of the Monarch factories in Rochester MN Salem OR and Chicago Ill. Monarch Foods nowadays an entity of US Foods traced its origins to the Reid Murdoch Company which was founded in 1853 to provision Gold Rush wagons heading west and produced a variety of canned foods including olive oil vegetables coffee candies etc. Monarch Foods unknown books
