1989140940817No Place: No Publisher 1989. Near Fine. Comb-bound printed on sheets of various colors. Unpaginated. Near Fine with light wear. A thick collection of Grateful Dead lyrics plus lyrics to songs the Dead often covered. A memento of rabid Deadhead culture at the close of the '80s transcribed by the anonymous Deadeditor by hand from listening to various tapes; tape-trading being one of the most popular pursuits in the subculture. According to said editor in the intro "This book was not xeroxed out of another lyric book nor was it copied out of Dead songbooks. Anything that was taken from another source was looked over and corrected to the best of my ability." Also notable for the time was that it was written on a Macintosh SE computer writing on a computer was a strange new thing for many people then believe it or not and "the final copy was printed on a NEC Silent Writer laser printer." The title is taken from the band's classic song "Ripple" off the 1970 studio LP American Beauty. Rare with a single institutional copy located in a recent OCLC WorldCat search. 002789Unbound. Very Good. Winsome collection of manuscript color illustrations and light text for part of a children's story. N.d. circa 1920s. The first card or what is presumed to be so bears the legend "To My Valentine" with the name of "Ann Warren Stewart" written on a mailbox. Since Ann is a character in these drawings we can assume she was not the author or illustrator but rather perhaps a recipient or dedicatee. The artwork is in the style loosely of Mabel Lucie Attwell or the Sally Dick and Jane readers. While it is simple and perhaps even a touch naive it is also very polished and almost certainly was executed by an adult. And so we see a small child fetching a giant heart-shaped valentine from a mailbox a toddler stumbling off a chair an older child trying to interest a baby in toys and an older toddler climbing up and down a high chair. Each of these cards is fit for framing and hanging on a wall. Now disbound there are three margin holes that once kept them in a binder. Light scattered soiling does not mar the preciousness and charm of the illustrations each 11 by 9 inches 29 by 22 cm each on heavy card stock.

unknown books

181743954London: Published by Sherwood Neely and Jones Paternoster-Row; and Simpkin and Marshall Stationers' Court; Sold Also by T. Rogerson Manchester; and by All Booksellers 1817. Original publisher's blue-grey paper-covered boards backed in green paper tan spine labels printed in black. Binding worn and rubbed particularly extremities of Vol I with light sunning and soiling; heel of Vol. I backstrip partially perished; front hinge of Vol I starting; page blocks a bit toned; light foxing to endpapers. Texts clean and unmarked bindings still quite sound overall. Good. Two volume set. 459 1 pp; pp 3 - 480. Illustrated with a total of 7 b/w plates and maps multiple engraved portraits to some plates. Plates published by T. Rogerson. 8vo. 9" x 5-1/2"

Text appears to be the same as that in Baines' History of the Wars of the French Revolution published by Longman Hurst Rees Orme and Brown the same year albeit with a slightly different title and with attribution to Baines. The Longman edition may have been preceded by an edition in parts advertised as "The Cheapest History of the Wars" in the Literary Gazette London: Henry Colburn 1817 and first published on March 1st by Simpkin and Marshall and Sherwood and Co. and sold by T. Rogerson. This edition bears the pronounced error of the "1792" on the title pg of Vol I being printed as "1793" on Vol. II's title page. The work Baines' first -- significant portions of which were later found to have been lifted verbatim from an earlier history by Alexander Stephens -- was wildly popular upon publication and would have likely been in high demand in any form; it was reissued as part of Baines' larger work on George III published in 1820. Uncommon in the trade. Published by Sherwood, Neely, and Jones, Paternoster-Row; and Simpkin and Marshall, Stationers' Court; Sold Also by T. Roger hardcover books
