Condition: Very Good ; An early edition as described by Bengesco: 208 pages; no finials or typographic ornaments; on page 123 chapter thirteen "chapitre treizième" is mistakenly printed as chapter nine "chapitre neuvième". Full-bound in contemporary tree calf. Gilt titles to spine on a red title label; also gilt stamped decoration to spine and gilt board edge tooling. Leather lightly rubbed overall with moderate rubbing to edges enough to have effaced the gilt tooling from the top and bottom board edges as well as from spots of the rightmost edges. Outer hinges also well-rubbed and beginning to crack but otherwise secure. Some chipping and scuffing overall as well as two scuffs/abrasions to the front board both no more than .25 in. wide .5 in. long. Flaws are mainly cosmetic with nothing endangering the integrity of the book. Armorial bookplate on front pastedown. Text block is clean square and sturdy. Cramer, Utrecht hardcover
