Rare first and only edition of a theological work by the German Protestant pedagogue and composer Gottfried Hoffmann 1658-1712. The work was intended for young people teaching them how to read and understand the Bible. It opens with a dedication to Lady Catharina Magdalena of Büntherin and a preface. The main text is divided into two parts. The first is an introduction to reading the Bible: how to read understand interpret live by and act on the Bible. The second contains forty Biblical "Kern-Sprüche" the most important Biblical passages each followed by an explanation and application of the text and a relevant prayer. With a faint library stamp on the title-page. Some spots and some dog-eared leaves. Binding slightly stained foot of spine slightly damaged. Die Hals-Nasen-Ohrenheilkunde konnte sich erst so spät zu einem eigenen Fach entwickeln da die zu beobachtenden und zu behandelnden Organe in tiefen dunklen Körperhöhlen liegen; die dem bloßen menschlichen Auge nicht sichtbar sind. So bedurfte es erst der Erfindung eines perforierten Hohlspiegels durch Friedrich Hoffmann 1841 mit dessen Hilfe die Beleuchtung dieser Organe möglich wurde. Friedrich Hofmann 1806-1886 Arzt Geheimer Sanitätsrat in Burgsteinfurt beschreibt seinen perforierten Hohlspiegel der die Beleuchtungstechnik vor allem im HNO- und Augen-Bereich revolutioniert aber auch bei der Urethroskopie verwendet wird HAKEN GRÜNFELD. Die Erfindung war einfach er kratzte den spiegelnden Belag im Zentrum eines runden Toilettenspiegels ab und benutzte dieses Loch als Durchblick Die Bedeutung dieser Entdeckung wurde zuerst nicht erkannt und 1859 beschrieb v. Tröltsch den sogenannten Ohrenspiegel erneut. Seit dieser Zeit erfuhr er eine weite Verbreitung. -cf. Georg Franz Hoffmann was a German botanist and lichenologist After graduating from the University of Erlangen in 1786 he worked there between 1787 and 1792 as a professor of botany. Between 1792 and 1803 he was Head of the Botany Department and Director of the Botanical Garden of Göttingen University. Already a famous botanist in particular for his work on lichens he settled in Moscow in January 1804 and directed the Department of Botany at the University of Moscow as well as the Botanical Garden. A name and date from 1947 on the FFEP otherwise a near fine copy in a VG D/W with the fugitive red spine faded to a lighter hue and a touch of minor edge wear. A very nice copy indeed. Considered by many magicians and card sharps to be the one essential guidebook to attaining the highest level of card mastery. Uncommon especially in nice condition. A rare find indeed.

Includes the original hand-drawn lithograph "Faithful Nutcracker" printed on chine applique paper which is adhered to a hand torn sheet Lana mould made paper. Its inaugural exhibition July 18 1937 was the "Tag der deutschen Kunst" Day of the German Art and was intended as an illuminate contrast to the condemned modern art on display in the concurrent Degenerate art exhibition Entartete Kunst also held by the Nazis in Munich on July 19 1937. <br /> <br /> This scarce stereoscopic album contains 100 stereographic images size: 2 1/2 x 5" 22 of which are pasted on heavy card stock within the textual portion and 78 resting in lowered pockets inside back board. All the photographs were taken by Hitler's personal photographer Heinrich Hoffmann and pertain to the opening of the "Tag der deutschen Kunst" exhibition. They show striking views of the city of Munich adorned with decorations and swastikas; outside and inside views of the impressive "Haus der deutschen Kunst"; Hitler's arrival for the inauguration of the building and the exhibition as well as views of numerous showcased artwork duly approved by the Nazis.<br /> <br /> This album is complete with its stereoscope resting in lowered pocket inside front board and stereo-views in three compartments of inside back cover.
