For decades patients flocket to Dever from all over North America and were admitted free of charge. In the early years the sanatorium was headed by Phillip Hillkowitz as president 1904-1948. About The Book:- Women's rights are the rights and entitlements claimed for women and girls of many societies worldwide. Although males seem to have dominated in many ancient cultures, there are some exceptions. During the 19th century some women began to ask for, demand, and then agitate and demonstrate for the right to vote, the right to participate in their government and its law making. In the subsequent decades women's rights again became an important issue in the English speaking world. By the 1960s the movement was called feminism. In 1946 the United Nations established a Commission on the Status of Women. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, adopted in 1948, enshrines "the equal rights of men and women", and addressed both the equality and equity issues. The present book highlights, considers and discusses various contemporary issues of women rights. It is hoped that the present edition of this book will be beneficial to all concerned of the society, in general and students, lawyers, advocates, academicians, human rights institutions, researchers and NGOs working in women rights field, in particular. Rather, they were living "on the margins" in seventeenth-century Europe, North America, and South America. Yet these women - one Jewish, one Catholic, one Protestant - left behind memoirs and writings that make for a spellbinding tale and that, in Davis' deft narrative, tell us more about the life of early modern Europe than many an official history. Glikl bas Judah Leib was a merchant of Hamburg and Metz whose Yiddish autobiography blends folktales with anecdotes about her two marriages, her twelve children, and her business. Marie de L'Incarnation, widowed young, became a mystic visionary among the Ursuline sisters and cofounder of the first Christian school for Amerindian women in North America.
