16-4389Bordeaux: Le Temps 1940 . Typescript. 2pp. and copy of Le Temps June 24 1940. 4to. .Provenance Estate of Paul Lombard. Expertise by Ségolène Beauchamp 86bis rue de Bellébat 45000 Orléans and Pierre Prévost 75 rue Michel Ange 75016 Paris. 21 pages. 21 x 14 cm. Opens with a highly informative five-page Foreword by the Duchess of Atholl, M.P., the first female Scottish Member of Parliament. She provides details of the publishing and distribution history of Mein Kampf to-date, and possible reasons why its content has remained relatively unknown for so long by non-German speakers. In particular, she expresses her disdain for the 'severe expurgation' of the October 1933 English version entitled My Struggle. The following fourteen pages consist of quotes from a 1936 edition of Mein Kampf (which she refers to as the Nazi Bible) in which Hitler sets forth his views on foreign policy. These quotes are grouped under the following headings: German Arms and Methods; A Pan-German Policy; The Conquest of Territories - Old and New; Alliances Essential for the Overthrow of France; Views on Peace and Pacifism. Reprint of the 1936 first edition published by the Friends of Europe, an organization which claimed to offer "reliable information on the racial ideas, the religious struggle, the new militarism, new education and foreign policy in Nazi Germany." - last leaf. Unmarked with somewhat above-average wear. Covers nearly free of staples. A worthy copy of this fascinating and prescient historical artifact printed only one year before Hitler invaded Poland. Book

Frank was a Minister of the Third Reich and Governor General of those areas of Poland occupied by Nazi Germany which were not incorporated into the Reich. At the International Military Tribunal in Nuremberg for the first time in the history of the world thousands of secret documents were revealed belonging to a state in the grip of the imperialist idea of world conquest. Among those documents Hans Frank's Diary occupies one of the leading positions both on account of its contents and on account of its more than ordinary length: 11,000 typwritten pages in foolscap, making up 38 volumes.
