189223214New York - London: Not Published 1892. A group of 4 letters: February 1892 Capri March Castellammare di Stabia and June & July the Grand Hotel Axenstein Switzerland. All the letters are signed by W.B. Valentine and discuss giving Charles P. Buckley in New York City power of attorney and releases for various transactions concerning real estate deals and rental properties. Quite detailed asking the attorney for various assurances and advice in complex deals since his opponents are as ".sharp as O'Sullivans. Still they might have other properties we could sell under judgement. We have them now in a tight place.I am concerned that there is a swindle some where for I cannot understand why this man should hold his deed back for over 15 years." Some of the properties were at West Deer Park perhaps on Long Island this area later became Wheatley Heights; mention is also made of interest in B & M stock and properties at Lockwood. Valentine also requests his friend Buckley to advise 'Frank' on his investments and his greenhouses since ".Poor Frank has been done very badly in the past." and also reflects some of the prejudice and bias typical of the time against Jews in business: ".How is Moses if he were not a Jew I should have hopes of seeing his a/c paid but I am very doubtful of that race - I never came in contact with them with being the loser." The four letters averaging 4 1/2" x 7 1/2" size approx. with 3 written on good hotel-type notepaper one written on very thin 'onionskin' type paper slightly browned; with one envelope mailer stamped 'United States Consulate' return from Castellammare Italy to Charles P.
