br. Georges Bataille è stato uno dei pochi intellettuali francesi a tentare una riflessione originale sulla singolarità del fenomeno nazista e fascista proprio al momento del suo affermarsi sulla scena europea. Questo confronto diretto e rischioso con il fascismo, concepito al contempo come una nuova minaccia e come la manifestazione di terribili forze che la modernità laica e democratica aveva rimosso, s'iscrive nel quadro più ampio dell'elaborazione di una politica, di un'etica e persino di una gnoseologia e di un'ontologia peculiari. I due scritti qui raccolti costituiscono due frammenti di un libro, " Il fascismo in Francia", che Bataille aveva in cantiere e che abbandonò a metà degli anni Trenta. Lo scritto che apre il volume, "Critica di Heidegger. Critica di una filosofia del fascismo" - assolutamente inedito - è un testa a testa con la filosofia heideggeriana, della quale Bataille riconosce la portata, ma anche la pericolosità. Il secondo testo qui raccolto, il celebre "La struttura psicologica del fascismo", attraverso un originale confronto con il marxismo, analizza il fascismo a partire da un'inedita prospettiva psicologica.

ril. La notte del 24 marzo 1945, la contessa Margit Batthyamy-Thyssen e il marito, ricchi eredi di una tra le dinastie più in vista della Germania nazista, danno una festa principesca per le SS del distaccamento locale nel loro castello di Rechnitz, al confine tra Austria e Ungheria. Intorno alla mezzanotte, la furia dei nazisti - e forse di tutti gli ospiti - si abbatte su un gruppo di ebrei ungheresi rinchiusi vicino alla proprietà in attesa di essere deportati. Vengono uccisi in centottanta, dopo aver scavato lo propria fossa, mentre al castello il ricevimento continua, si balla e ci si ubriaca. Ma uno dei peggiori crimini nazisti della fine della Seconda guerra mondiale è per l'autore una questione personale: la "padrona di casa dell'inferno" è Margit, una zia di cui in famiglia non si parla mai. Era presente all'eccidio? Vi ha partecipato? Che cosa è veramente accaduto quella notte? Per rispondere a queste domande Sacha Batthyany, guidato dal diario della nonna che a sua volta nasconde un segreto inconfessabile, intraprende un viaggio alla ricerca della verità, dalla Svizzera in cui è cresciuto all'Ungheria delle origini della sua famiglia, dall'Austria del dopoguerra alla Siberia dei Gulag, fino a Buenos Aires, nel salotto di una sopravvissuta di Auschwitz, dove scopre il segreto che cambierà lo sua vita e il suo destino. "È il patto segreto di noi discendenti, nipoti dei carnefici o delle vittime. Tutti noi andiamo a prenderci qualcosa, un pezzo di esistenza."

Quando, dopo la sua morte, ho letto il diario che aveva custodito nel segreto per tutta la vita, mi è parso di avere una percezione più chiara del tormento che ha dilaniato per decenni mio padre fascista, prigioniero a Coltano dopo aver combattuto, ventenne o poco più, dalla parte dei 'ragazzi di Salò'. Ho capito che cosa abbia rappresentato per lui il dolore di essere stato internato in quel campo per i vinti della Rsi vicino alla 'gabbia del gorilla' in cui era rinchiuso Ezra Pound. Ho capito quanto abbia sanguinato il suo cuore di sconfitto, di 'esule in Patria' nell'Italia in cui era un borghese integrato, maniacalmente attaccato alla civiltà delle buone maniere, ma covando il sentimento di un'apocalisse interiore da cui non si sarebbe mai affrancato. Ho capito quanto sia stata aspra e dolorosa la mia rottura con lui e quanto mi pesi, ancora oggi, il fardello di una riconciliazione mancata. Allora ho pensato che fosse giunto il momento di raccontare, con i miei occhi e il mio modo di sentire le cose della vita, chi fosse mio padre fascista e cosa pensasse nell'Italia che non credeva più nei miti in cui lui era cresciuto. Che rapporto ricco e difficile avesse instaurato con i suoi figli. Che cosa abbia significato per me essere figlio di un fascista, e vergognarsi di avere provato vergogna per i padri che abbiamo tradito andandocene da un'altra parte, e che invece hanno vissuto con dignità, coraggio e coerenza la loro solitudine.
