Leather spine tooled in gilt with an elaborate device and title. Covers rubbed, edge wear and wear to top and bottom of spine. The map of Paris and 60 engravings (complete) are generally clean, but some light foxing and soil. Beautifully engraved plates ca.1820, engraved by Couche fils, depict well known monuments in Paris as well as other parts of France. Most plates are of Paris. Now in a mylar wrap in the French style. This is a fine softcover copy of this rare two volume set with no wear at all. Completely clean inside and out. These are sale catalogs for the historic firearms auctions held at Christie's London on November 9, 2000 and October 25, 2001. Sale codes are: FRISK-8934 and CONKERS-6542. W. Keith Neal (1905-1990) began collecting antique and often historically significant firearms in his twenties. By the 1960's his collection numbered some 2000 items and was considered to be the finest collection in private hands. There was one earlier sale at Christie's in 1995. With these two final sales the W. Keith Neal Collection has been completely dispersed. 279 lots in the first sale and 274 lots in the second sale. This is a very good hardcover portfolio with the text booklet and 80 loose plates with only light wear. The hardcover portfolio has a printed salmon-colored title label, also the same label on the text booklet. The portfolio boards have a little light fading or discoloration, but still very good. The hard spine of the portfolio has the title printed in salmon colored letters also very good. The text booklet is also very good, with almost no wear, just one tiny inscription to the front endpaper of the booklet. The loose plates are also very clean and fresh. Text by Joseph Lux in German. All plates are reproduced in black & white. Seven drawings of interiors reproduced in black & white in the text booklet. This is the 7th edition of this important collection of Empire and Biedermeier furniture and decorative arts assembled by Joseph Lux and with his introduction and notes.
