With an engraved Baronial bookplate possibly John Henry Vivian or his son Sir Arthur Pendarves Vivian member of the Royal Geographical Society inked name on recto of frontispiece the frontispiece caption is trimmed and spotted. <br/><br/>Denon a noted artist and engraver accompanied Napoleon's troops into Egypt to record the scenery and antiquities. This volume describes the plates of the Atlas volume. Additionally there are important Appendices about the pyramids at Geza Alexandria minerals medicine "Memoire sur le Commerce des Negres au Caire et sur les Maladies ." etc. This British edition with French text is quite scarce. Top edges of the text blocks are dust-stained. Endpapers are a bit foxed. The text of the volumes is mostly clean although there are some areas of foxing. Volume VIII has some dried substance stuck to the bottom corner of the front cover and there is a spot of damping at the lower corner of the first few pages. On Volume IX the rear inner hinge is completely open although the front inner hinge is secure. Otherwise the set is sound with secure inner hinges and the text is generally clean.
