Le 513 tavole numerate che compongono l’opera sono tutte inc. su legno, con testi a fronte in italiano e francese, inquadrati in elaborata cornice. Il ns. esemplare ne contiene 509 (mancano i N. 263 - 264 - 265 - 266). Il primo volume (con 234 tavv.) è dedicato solo all'Italia. Questa importante opera, illustrata da disegni del pittore Cesare Vecellio (cugino di Tiziano), fu pubblicata per la prima volta nel 1590 e ristampata nel 1598 e nel 1664. Cfr. Colas,2980 - Graesse,VII,267: "Cette nouvelle edit. reproduit exactement tous les costumes figurés dans les trois premières, mais cette fois dessinés plus correctement par M.
