174856612Taunton Mass. 1748. Pro-forma document approx. 6¼" x 7½" accomplished in ink in a neat and legible hand concerning Charity Allen a single woman evidently with child and who with her presumed father a blacksmith and one Richard Tree acknowledge themselves to be severally indebted to the King for five pounds Charity and 50 shillings each Jeremiah and Richard "to be levied on their goods and chattels lands or tenements and in want thereof upon their bodies . the condition of the above Written Recognizance is such that if" above bounden Charity Allen "shall personally appear before the Justices . to be holden at" Taunton "in the County of" Bristol . "on the" second Tuesday of June next . "to answer to such matters and things as shall be objected against her on His Majesty's behalf" and more especially for her being with child of a bastard child." I take this to be a subpoena of sorts obliging the pregnant Charity together with her father to appear before the court . but why Birth records for Rehoboth show Charity was born July 5 1729 so at the time she would have been almost 19 and that she gave birth to a boy named Jacob in June of 1748 the "reputed son of Thomas Peck and Charity Allen."

unknown books

Known as the Landholders' Constitution from the fact that only owners of real estate and their eldest sons were allowed to vote for delegates to the Convention adopted by the charter government in Providence. "Once again reformist agitation prompted the General Assembly to authorize a constitutional convention this one scheduled for November 1841. The agitators correctly assumed that the Assembly's act was insincere and opportunistic merely designed to sap vitality from the Rhode Island Suffrage association's cause and no more intended to be the vehicle of change than those previous "do-nothing" conventions summoned to appease the disfranchised in 1824 and 1834. As a result of this disbelief members of the association decided upon an extralegal course to attain their ends. Drafting Dorr to lead them they exhorted the adult male citizenry to disregard the landholding qualifications and go to the polls to elect delegates to a "People's Convention" which would meet in October 1841. The elections were duly held late in August and within six weeks the reformers' convention presented the fruit of its deliberations to the white male populous of Rhode Island for ratification" Patrick T. Conley in his Introduction to The Broadsides of the Dorr Rebellion compiled by Russell J. DeSimone and Daniel C. Schofield. Not that this mattered at the time to the charterist government who adopted this constitution to replace the Charter of 1663 from the time of King Charles II but with little change in voting rights and requirements. 1964002007Hollywood: United Artists 1964. The Beatles "A HARD DAY'S NIGHT" Hollywood: United Artists c. 1964. Original vintage hand-tinted double-weight still photograph used to produce promotional A HARD DAY'S NIGHT U. S. release Lobby Card #10. This high-resolution double-weight flat matte 8" x 10" production photo was printed in black and white in preparation for the creation of the now familiar 11" x 14" promotional color lobby card then hand-tinted; registration marks and color directions written in grease pencil can be seen on the photo itself. This lobby card artwork showcases one of the more detailed of the lobby cards in the set featuring Paul McCartney in disguise hiding from screaming Beatles fans accompanied by Wilfred Brambell who plays his creepy trouble-making grandpa. In Very Good condition lightly worn. The reverse is a bit aged and smudged. The film A HARD DAY'S NIGHT was directed in 1964 by Richard Lester and was rather a low budget operation shot in black-and-white and used a zany cinema-verite style to showcase a few days in the life of Beatlemania. At the time it was meant to be the equivalent of a promotional film few anticipated that the film would end up being acclaimed a comedy classic. For roughly the same price as a fine example of the original lobby card itself you can own the original art that made it. Ex- Heritage Poster Auction #601 March 2004. Unbound. Very Good. Photograph. 195025986Milwaukee WI: Tee-Pee-Gee Company n.d. but ca.1950. Board game consisting of one 1 game board 21.5" x 22" set of two 2 red acrylic dice 41 round and square painted wood pieces in black white green red yellow blue and brown one black piece replaced 17 game cards 2.25" x 3.75" printed on rectos only and original instruction manual 6" x 4". Dice game pieces and cards housed in the original manufacturers two-piece box. Game board is hinged with linen lightly worn at extremities with some occasional board exposure; instruction manual is browned overall folded in half with some splitting along spine fold and holographic notes to front and rear wrappers. Box for entire game not present though it is unclear whether or not one was issued. Presumed complete. "The fascination of this game lies in the variety of ways chances and combinations in which it can be played. For instance - a player may decide to play all the men on the straight and narrow path to freedom by being pardoned or take a shorter but more risky method as a fugitive. The trials of fate and temptation may enter at any time and upset all plans. This novel game which may be played by two to six players illustrates the separation of prisoners from the outside world and their discipline and reformation. It is a game of chance and skill and the possibility of your opponents' chance to win depends upon where and how you make your moves. It will hold you spellbound from beginning to end" - opening statement from instruction booklet.

A prison-themed board game with a phantom manufacturer; our research has failed to reveal much information about either one though in theory and objective it bears remarkable similarities to the much later ca.1990's board game The Slammer produced by Ruppert Games. Tee-Pee-Gee can be played by up to six players and while it appears fairly easy at first glance the dynamics are quite complicated with game pieces representing inmates messengers guards and visitors. The possibility for numerous moves exists dictated by the roll of the dice cards chosen and each players respective positioning on the board. Prisoners can be released or can choose to escape with or without the help of visitors. The winner of the game is the player with all their prisoners outside the walls either as "pardoned" or "fugitives" and their visitors "in good standing" with the prison officials.
