Paul Poiret (1879 – 1944), célèbre couturier et mécène, mais aussi fondateur du “Club gastronomique Les Purs cent” . P. Poiret propose 107 recettes “fameuses” que l’on pouvait trouver sur la carte des meilleurs restaurants parisiens dans les années 20. Très belles illustrations de Marie Alix. Le “carnet de publicité honorifique” présente sous forme de dialogue, les restaurants et fournisseurs les plus côtés de cette époque. Exemplaire bien conservé avec très bon état du papier couché, légère insolation de la bordure de la couverture.

DAVID'S FIRST BOOK, AND THE FIRST OF THE THREE VOLUMES THAT WOULD CHANGE ENGLISH COOKING FOR EVER. Lehmann's first edition of 1950 was a small print run, in relative terms expensive and tended to appeal primarily to the converted. It was also the work that combined for the first time David's highly characteristic style with Minton's wonderfully complementary illustrations. Certainly it can be argued that this is the most influential English cookery book of the twentieth century. EARLY IMPRESSIONS ARE SCARCE, ESPECIALLY IN THIS CONDITION.

David's classic compilation was first published by Joseph in 1960 with a second (heavily revised) edition in 1965. This CBC edition contains the revised text together with all of Renny's delightful illustrations. SCARCE IN THIS CONDITION.
16mo., with an engraved frontispiece (original tissue guard present), engraved and printed titles, and 34 wood-engraved illustrations in the text, wanting Q8, some mild and occasional age-staining, neat contemporary signature on front free endpaper; original dark green cloth, boards elaborately blocked in blind, gilt back, neatly recased, a very good, tight copy. This attractive and compact edition of a culinary staple is enhanced by an unusual hunting scene as frontispiece; the title-vignette depicts a table of wildfowl and short quotation from Suckling. This must have been one of last the issues of Rundell before the onset of Beeton. This edition not in Cagle. Scarce.

Il volume di "Tubera Terrae" consta di pp. 48 e riproduce fedelmente in forma anastatica la pima edizione dell'opera (Taurini, ex Typographia Regia, 1776). Il volume di traduzione italiana consta di pp. 78 e reca una prefazione di Mario Soldati e una introduzione di Franco Montacchini; alla p. 29 è riprodotta l'incisione contenuta nell'edizione latina a p. 1, la prima tavola esistente raffigurante la ricerca dei tartufi. Ottimo stato. "Non solo l'opera del Vigo è la prima dedicata alla raccolta dei tartufi in Piemonte, ma descrive la zona di produzione compresa fra il Po e la Bormida" (dall'introduzione). Giovanni Bernardo Vigo (Corio, 1719-Torino, 1805), oggi noto soprattutto come autore di questo poemetto latino ispirato ai tartufi, nel 1778 fu nominato professore di eloquenza italiana e di greco a Torino e, due anni dopo, di eloquenza latina.
