19865541Waseca MN: Walter's Publishing 1986. First Edition First Printing Assumed. Spiral bound. Very Good. 7 1/2 X 8 3/4 Inches. 188 PP Tables & Ads. Original "Teacher in Space Cookbook" issued prior to the January 28 1986 Challenger tragedy. President Ronald Reagan announced his search for a "teacher passenger" for a Shuttle mission on August 27 1984. Thousands of teachers applied for the spot that was given to New Hampshire teacher Sharon Christa McAuliffe. This cookbook was simply a project put together by one of the applicants Bonnie Fakes in an effort to have all of the state finalist teachers add a recipe in celebration of their achievement. Christa has two recipes printed. Interestingly Astronaut Jake Garn and Challenger Commander Dick Scobee also have recipes included. Full page celebration of the winner Christa McAuliffe at front. We believe that this book was printed at least once prior to the Challenger disaster this one. We also believe that at least one later edition was printed with added information on the disaster itself.

Original comb binding. Covers a bit worn at corners. Table of Contents page has pulled apart at top few rings. A nice copy of a scarce book. OCLC locates four copies LOC Nashville Public Library Virginia Tech and Ohio State University. 19615955London: Nicholas Kaye 1961. First Thus. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. Julian Brazelton. 4 7/8 X 7 5/8 Inches. Scarce 1961 hardcover first printing of the combined Tante Marie Cookbooks including French Kitchen and French Cakes and Patries. Translated into English by Charlotte Turgeon with the help of Ann Rogers. This combined edition of the early Tante Marie cookbooks was printed in the same year as Julia Child's Mastering the Art of French Cooking. As the Tanta Marie cooking school was the first school in the UK to offer a Cordon Bleu Diploma and we know Child read studied and practiced from existing French cookery books voraciously we must assume that the Tante Marie books would have been early influences for Child in Paris.

This edition bound in original white cloth with blue title-stamping to spine. Originla price of "25s" intact on front flap. Light wear to DJ edges and folds. A very appealing copy of an overlooked classic! Nicholas Kaye hardcover

Original price of $8.95 intact on front flap. An often overlooked classic that obviously influenced chef Jamie Oliver. Written by Penelope Ashe AKA Billie Young of "Naked Came the Stranger" fame. McGrady set out to publish a book that was intentionally horrible but filled with lots of sex. His intention was to prove that American readership no longer recognized good writing and just cared about folks getting naked. He was right. The book a hoax was published and became a 1969 bestseller. Penelope Ashe Billie Young was represented as the author for meetings with publishers etc. In fact Young was McGrady's sister-in-law. Ever the entreprenuer she parlayed that "fake fame" into this genuinely fine cookbook.

Includes recipes that include: Adulteress Rice Pilaf Erotic Viking Steamers Spicy Casanova Shimp and Conjugal Clam Chowder among others.
