Dr. Guiseppe Albaretto was one of the artist's closest friends having built up over the years the most important private collection of DalÃ's works.</p><p><u>One of the most important DalÃ's symbols:<br /></u>A Christian symbol of the resurrection of Christ and an emblem of purity and perfection the egg is one of the most significant symbols in the artist's work. Beyond its appearance and minerality so dear to Dalà it represents the previous life intrauterine and rebirth.<br />Another "Egg" this one unbroken is placed on the turret of the artist's house in Portlligat.</p>

An original program to Salvador Dalí's first solo New York exhibition held at the Julien Levy Gallery from November 21 to December 8 1933. The announcement includes a list of the 26 paintings on exhibit and includes two illustrations; one of those being Dali's iconic painting The Persistence of Memory which debuted only the year before at Levy's Surrealist Exposition alongside other notable artist such as Max Ernst and Marcel Duchamp. Dali would embrace New York over the next decade staging a series of shows and attracting enormous attention with his works and outrageous persona cementing his place as one of the world's most influential artist of the 20th Century. Hidden Faces was originally written in French in 1943 two years after Dali had published his autobiography to great success. Chevalier a professor at Berkeley University spent several weeks with Dalà translating directly into English as Dalà wrote. The novel was completed in two weeks on the estate of the Marquis de Cuevas in Franconia a mansion in the mountains of New Hampshire next to the Canadian border.
