The recipient is Barbara Bagenal 1891-1984 whose address label is next to the inscription. She was an artist associated with various members of the Bloomsbury Group primarily Vanessa Bell Saxon Sydney-Turner and John Maynard Keynes. In the fifties she became the companion of Clive Bell and it was while touring France with him that she met Picasso. The Tate has a humorous photograph taken by her of Bell and Picasso together. She later noted in her journal ''P. kissed me!''.Covers slightly rubbed at head and tail of spine. Very good indeed in very good dustwrapper with a small chip at head of spine.
