Der Kupferstich zeigt wohl Christoph Weiß in Ausübung seiner Tätigkeit beim Nachfüllen von städtischen Laternen mit frischem Talg (Klauenfett). Als Künstler überwiegend Autodidakt, schuf er im Laufe seines Lebens fast 1600 druckgraphische Blätter. Housed in a folder of 1/4 brown cloth with tan paper over boards and a gilt stamped title on the front board. The folder is toned and lightly rubbed at the edges. The first plate is signed by Molnár in pencil and numbered # 20 in an edition of only 36. <br /> <br /> The painter and graphic artist Pál Molnár-C. 1894-1981 born in Battonya Hungary lived and worked in a villa located in Ménesi Street on the hillside of Gellért Hill Budapest for 50 years. He held the surrealist style close to his heart throughout his life and he was also heavily inspired by the Symbolist works of Ferdinand Hodler. His illustrations of Shakespeare's Corialanus and Rostrand's Cyrano de Bergerac earned him gold medals at salons in Paris Milan and Warsaw.
