1953220335中国妇女杂志社 Zhongguo Funü zazhi she. 1953 -1979. Unique collection of 71 magazines for Chinese women published 1953 - 1979. This collection comprises: 64 copies of "Chinese Women" 中国妇女 magazine text in simplified Chinese characters; 5 copies of "New Chinese Women" 新中国妇女 magazine text in traditional Chinese characters; and 1 copy of "Chinese Youth" 中国青年 magazine all 25.7 x 18.8cm. Paper browned some underlining in both pencil and ink names written in ink on covers; in some issues leaves are loose some covers have library stamps stains and tears with a little loss; edges and spines on many issues worn. In general text is unaffected except for Issue 9 1953 which has considerable loss to the upper section throughout. An important collection of information on women's issues during this eventful Chinese era. Overall the majority of the issues are in good secondhand condition showing signs of use and age. From the library of a well-known Australian scholar of China whose lifelong research in Chinese women's issues led her to acquire these periodicals whenever the opportunity presented itself. The magazine 中国妇女 Zhongguo Funü was founded in 1939 during the Anti-Japanese War by the All-China Women's Federation ACWF a leading women's organization in China.
