Jean Dadré né à Perrière (Orne) vers 1550 était grand pénitencier de l’Église de Rouen. Ce théologien fut un zélé partisan des ligueurs. Il a fort peu publié: une édition d’EusèbePamphile, une Remontrance au duc d’Epernon et cette histoire des archevêques de Rouen, son ouvrage le plus important, qui fut donné après sa mort par son neveu Gilles Dadré. Il est dédié à François de Harlay. Le livre contient de nombreux bois gravés de facture populaire (portraits).- Frères I, 310 – Cioranesco 7242.– Bel exemplaire dans sa première reliure avec un ex-libris gravé en 1707 par Bidault pour un membre de la famille TURGOT, sans doute Dominique Barnabé de Turgot (1667-1727). – Quelques infimes trous de vers marginaux.

In-folio relié plein veau brun, dos à nerfs très orné, pièce de titre de maroquin rouge, tranches rouges. 16 pages pour la préface (avec un modèle dessiné de la taille des pièces (Moduli numismatum) + 226 pages. Bien complet des 36 planches de monnaies gravées. Titre dans un très bel encadrement gravé, bandeaux, vignettes, lettrines et culs de lampes gravés. Coins un peu émoussés, mors du 2me plat fendu en partie inférieure sur environ 5 centimètres, une page présente une déchirure sans manque de papier. Tache d'humidité en marge d'une grande partie des pages. Malgré les défauts signalés. Bel ouvrage, en bel état.
