A gift from his dear Papa February 14th 1828". Also: A small white bookseller's label: "Abbott Printer Bookseller Stationer & Binder Diss." Printed title with engraved vignette and light offsetting from the frontis. Clear English text. Some intermittent foxing and off-setting but overall a clean set. There will be an extra charge to send this heavy set overseas. VG. "Robert Henry Cobbold Rev was born on 14 January 1820 in Eye Suffolk his father Robert was 27 and his mother Emily was 22. He married Caroline Anne Brown in April 1852 in Suffolk. They had nine children in 12 years. He died on 16 September 1893 at the age of 73. In that long life he spent 10 years working for the Church Missionary Society in China. He and his family returned to England wherehe had a number of posts ending with Surrogate and Rural Dean in 1873 and Prebend of Hereford Cathedral in 1885. Active in the community until his death in 1893 he is buried at Ross and commemorated by a window there and by a plaque in Hereford Cathedral." - See Anthony Cobbold 2011 . " Ezekiel Blomfield 1778�1818 was a Congregational minister author and compiler of religious works and works on natural history. His parents were Stephen Blomfield born c.1740 died 27 November 1809 and Elizabeth Blomfield n�e Luiss Lewis born c.1750 died 17 March 1799. Ezekiel was the youngest of four children. He was born on 28 October 1778 at North Walsham Norfolk then moved with his parents to Norwich. The bindings have some nicking and chipping to them. The surface area is quite pitted. Still attractive. Each volume has vignettes and historiated initials to the beginning of each homily. Each homily has its own title page and date. These were obviously printed as separate homilies and bound together here. Text in French. Vol 1. 1707 4th Edition. This volume has had damage to the bottom edge looks as if perhaps mice before binding or similar. As a result the text block has been shaved to the base not affecting text. This has resulted in the book being 2.5 cm shorter than the other two volumes. Chaque homélie a sa propre page de titre et sa propre date. Celles-ci ont évidemment été imprimées sous forme d'homélies séparées et reliées ensemble ici. Texte en français. Vol 1. 1707 4e édition. Ce volume a eu des dommages sur le bord inférieur on dirait peut-être des souris avant la reliure ou similaire . En conséquence le bloc de texte a été rasé jusqu'à la base n'affectant pas le texte. "Robert Hasell Newell 1788- 1852 amateur artist and author born in Essex in 1778 was son of Robert Richardson Newell surgeon. Newell was a good amateur artist having studied under William Payne. His edition of Goldsmith's 'Poetical Works' 1811 and 1820 in which he attempted to ascertain chiefly from local observation the actual scene of 'The Deserted Village' is embellished with drawings by him engraved in aquatint by Samuel Alken q. v. He likewise illustrated his 'Letters on the Scenery of North Wales' 1821 the drawings being engraved in aquatint by T. Sutherland.
